So just a happy thread of some hunting related gifts you may have bought yourself or received? How was everyone’s Christmas? I realize some couldn’t spend it with their families this year if you chose to do so.( That’s ok)

I got a new headlamp and some cabelas gift cards. Bought myself a tikka t3x hunter 7mm rifle. Now going to save for a swaro z3 scope.

what did everyone else get this Christmas ?
I’m excited to get to the range and practice practice practise until spring bear

Mrs Claus got me an Orvis LT Pro Upland vest (the grouse and chukar don’t stand a chance now). No new hardware, but I already bought a new .30-30, Nikon scope, Winchester 101 and a 20 gauge this year, so I’m ok with that. Sort of...

Full ringneck pheasant rooster cape, full muskrat cape and chunk of coyote for fly tying. 99% sure I have a Capra ti from Goat knives coming (think it may end up just being my birthday present). Outdoor edge knife set (someone figured I've had enough "should probably go to the hospital" moments while cutting meat at home. New action cam (someone's been watching my videos). Rangefinder and gift cards to a certain highway 24 outdoors store. Smattering of spices.

Guess the only "non-outdoor" gift I got was a gift card to the book store in town... which will probably go towards outdoor books anyways.

Got a cheap Real Tree Max5 rain coat and pants from Frogg Toggs (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00MW47762/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I like the waders I got from them this year so sprung for this set just as a backup. But large is too large for me. Even imagining layering underneath. I probably will sell it. I already have a camo smock that bundles up nicely in my bag as needed and the ducks don't mind that it is isn't the right swamp camo for my area.

Christmas came a few weeks early this year as I found out I won a Kubota Side by Side from a contest I entered in February. We went to the Gord Bamford concert here in Kamloops and he and Kubota were giving away the SXS. Talk about a big surprise.

From the family I received a window mount for the Vortex spotter and GC's from Amazon, Canadian Tire and Princess Auto to outfit the SXS and cargo trailer I will be buying to haul the SXS.

The big guy was good to me this year to say the least! Scored a great set of outdoor knives, a much needed backcountry first aid kit, Cam Hanes book on bowhunting, and a new GoPro. Ready for some adventures to say the least. Hope to get the gopro rolling as early as next week for some waterfowl fun. 2021 gonna be a big year here we goooooo!

If boxing day sales count, I bought a big buddy heater and various accessories. Already used it trout fishing at the dock and it worked great- lots of heat.

Santa brought me a pair of Sitka Traverse pants. Might be the tipping point to add the last two pieces and join the full camo crew.
He also brought my wife a food dehydrator. Gonna be making lots of jerky and snacks for our trips.
She also got a sea to summit titanium spoon, to scoop the bottom of those MRE packages clean!

Just did the final set up with the magnetic powder check die and then some mucking about and setting up and running a few test loads I started with a full primer tube and cranked out 100 rounds in 4.5 minutes. Not too shabby.

The Hunter Chef Cookbook by Canadian author Michael Hunter. Pigeon stuffed with lobster mushrooms, anyone? Maybe some fried squirrel with candied yams and coleslaw? Seriously though, there are some great recipes for large game, small game, fish and forage. I'm looking forward to some good eats!

I was "excused" from the gf's parent's Christmas visitation, and we went steelhead fishing instead for 4 days, best gift ever!...instead of visiting lower mainland and buying my ticket for the usual Vedder madness, we enjoyed the much quieter rivers around Terrace....I'm hoping it's the start of a new tradition, but I am told it will not be hahaha

Yeah the 1100 is a big improvement over my Hornady AP. I can make about 500 an hour on the Hornady but it's not nearly as smooth sailing as the Dillon. Might end up selling the Hornady although it's set up for 45 ACP and the Dillon for 9mm, and I use 3 or 4 times as much 9mm as 45.

Took the 100 rounds to the range today and blasted through 99 of them no problem. The one failure had a backwards primer and I can't blame that on the press! :)

A new to me, Excalibur Matrix 380 arrived in the mail today. Thanks to Tad and Nog on convincing me (very easily) that I needed this crossbow.

Actually Nog eliminated 3 of the 4 bow options in short order and within minutes of sending him the link and details on the last one, Nog sent me the thumbs up and I immediately made arrangements to have this one shipped to me. Bow search, process of elimination and deal done all within three hours. Saved me countless hours of research, headache and stress. Thank goodness for sites like this that and people that jacked up helping others with their experience.

Like the saying goes, "In Nog We Trust."

I now see the actual bow is not going to be the most expensive part of this crossbow journey - lol. Thank goodness there was a lot of goodies that came along in the package deal. Great part is I bought one heck of a good foundation to begin with. Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy. Excited to learn, practice and be ready for my May bear and early bow season opportunities that I've never really considered before.

I want to know how the guy who snuck in the Beretta 20 gauge & buttered up the wife did????
I found the trick is to have a “lots of shotguns, fly rods, rifles, reels, etc all over my den, then when “new gear is added”...........well it’s always been there!

ordered a new Grey Birch 10/22 and the foundation chassis. But I have to wait on delivery for those. Yes a new scope, rings and ammo to go with that as well.

Also a set of First lite rain gear, pants and jacket. Snuck in on their sale before Christmas.

Yep Christmas was just an excuse to get some new tools for the outdoors trips.

A set of camo rain gear, a pair of Vortex binos, and deer pull harness, and some scent remover. The In-Laws spoiled me. Apparently some non-rain camo pants and other hiking gear is coming my way for my birthday in March. Now I just need to upgrade the rifle.

I've chosen to go another route. I've seen the stories where people are paying it forward that this has inspired me to put a little selfish twist in the concept.

I've been buying what I want (within reason of course) so that I can use it while I can physically and still remember how to use these items. Enjoy them now while I can instead of waiting for Christmases down the road.

I do like enjoy wool socks every Christmas though. Christmas socks - the best.
