I've been working on the basics with Skadi, sadly not as much outside work as I would like to with short winter days. Shotgun John and I introduced her to a pigeon a few months back when she was a little over 4 months and most recently she was introduced to a freshly shot goose that I took home after a hunt. She's keen on playing with them and trying to pick them up but she has a bit of growing up to do before she's ready to retrieve the resident geese. Lots of time to get her up to speed for next fall.

The dogs get better and better because we learn every time we get a new dog and pass on the good things we learned and hopefully not the bad things lol. The biggest take away is persistence, repetition, and consistency. Take some time every day to run simple drills and stimulate their minds as well as your own. Dogs are great destressorr as well as cause some stress some day. (Chessie owners know what I’m talking about lol)
