If that shoe print is from a size 17 shoe, that be a big grizz, if the print is from a size 9, that be just a little feller.

After having another peek at the "prints" photo, I see a couple of claw impressions close to the pad impression suggesting to me that the bear in question may have been a black bear. I would expect the claw impressions on a grizz track to be much further out.

The claw impressions on the rear foot of a grizzly are much the same as a black bear. You should be looking on the front pad for claw impressions

That footprint is a Griz print. I measured the running shoes i had on and it measured 13 inches long ,the Griz print in the pic is about 10 inches long..

I took the picture below of some grizzly tracks while moose hunting up in 6-8. The local loggers knew this old sow well as she had charged their pick up twice that year. I didn't spend too much time hunting this spot. My boots are a size 8, the hind tracks were 14" long.http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u260/tvaida/Tracks.jpg

Did you notice the in prints of the nails from the toes there just a few inches from the end of the toes. But that is one big Griz track for sure ,it is bigger then the one that followed me that night.
