I realized I never said what set up I eventually did get to use for sturgeon from all ur wonderful advice:

Shimano Technium rod (that sucker is long)
Penn 320GT2 reel with 130 lb braided line
sturgeon leader and swivels, hooks, beads (but I accidently got them a little too small so improvised and drilled bigger holes thru them to get them on the line :))

also ended up with 2 Penn 330GT1 reels that Peter purchased but the rods his brother got were way too ugly and too big so he really liked my set up better.

keep ur fingers crossed for me :)

phew I am so exhausted - I got up this morning and packed a little cooler picnic for the boat and by 8 am we were on the road to the boat launch - we launched this time at Dewdney - fished a little while for salmon but nothing was happening - I couldn't believe the difference in the river inonly 1 week - so much debris was floating in the water - we fished in a few more spots trying out the sturgeon gear - was awesome to see my son Braydon learning to make roe bags hehehehehe everytime he made up a few he would ask "Mom, can I have the hand sanitizer , fish eggs stink!" We got into one spot on the river that look really sweet but once another boat came by us the waves sent us a drift and our lines were snagging up and poor Chris was jumping all over the boat trying to help out and also get the anchor up while Peter tried getting the boat situated correctly - I tried to stay out of the way - we got it all back together and moved to a better spot and let Chris catch his breath and Peter calmed his frustrations - Braydon and I fished :) - Pete bought a little boat stove/bbq that he started setting up (maybe if he had of read the instructions he would have known the rod holders we have were wrong kind for this little contraption - u didnt hear me say that) with some tinkering we got the stove going and made gourmet smokies on a bun - um if you notice no fish yet (tell I need a new guide) as we are having our wonderful lunch another boat slithers in next to us and bam wouldnt ya know it they haul in sturgeon (small maybe 4 ft) - Leaseman was that you? We fished for about 2 more hours and a dear friend of ours pulled up along side us in his new boat (first time in the water) he said his howdy do's and toodle off to do his thing to try out his boat and we ahd to leave for other committments were calling for us to get home - I did take some nice photos of our day - I will post them as soon as I download them from the camera - but as I said no fish shots but what a beautiful day it was to be out there today with the sun.

I am glad u had success Mike :) - for me just seeing Braydon on the boat was a success - he has been terrified of going on a boat since Peter almost cast me overboard on the last boat we had - He enjoyed the day so much - good quality time with my baby - usually we have the girls tagging so I don't get much time with just him unless hockey and even them he needs focus for the game - he enjoyed watching the seals flipping out of the water with thier fish and seeing the sturgeon get landed in the other boat - he even had a little moment where he had to steady the boat while Pete and Chris got us out of a small snag - it was such a warm and beautiful day all in all :)
