View Full Version : Princeton buck shot this morning!

My dad and my uncle went out for a drive to check out a fairly fresh logging area, after driving a couple roads they went up one and came over a rise and my dad says "There! Look at that buck!" it jumped onto the road and down a steep draw. My dad jumps out and loads his gun then starts down to where he seen the buck go down. My uncle says he is going to drive up then my dad aves for him to come help him look. My dad can't find where the buck went to when my uncle says he sees it but can't get a clean shot. My dad turns and puts the crosshairs on the neck and shoots. The buck drops then gets back up and disappears over the hill. My dad signals my uncle to walk up the road with my dad while my dad checks over the hill. Well the buck has its front end straight up and back end down, dad shoots in the neck again and the buck is down for good. The deer is a 7x6 with some thick tines. It weighed about 300 lbs and should score around "180. The buck was well into the rut (it stunk). Pictures will be here soon just fixing the camera.

Haha, sorry about that, I was just told the story so I was trying to get it as accurate as possible. There was just 3 pics taken so I'm sure I'll have them soon!

I saw this buck this mornin, hes a dandy!!! Nice buck for sure, big long tines, pretty wide, hes an awesome buck!

And just so u guys know, the bases are probly about 7-8 inches, I could barely wrap my fingers around them, and its like that all the way up. Hes a 6x5, with a couple little cheater points. My guess is he would go about 170-180". Hes a dandy buck, I would have shot him for sure!!!!! Hes leadin' the big buck contest so far :P haha, only 2 big bucks have been entered so far, and he towers the other buck!

If your contest works on net scores, im sure that buck wont hold the title for long, Nov. is next week!!!

Im not to sure how it works. There probly will be bigger bucks then this, last year the biggest buck scored around 185-190. The bases might be a bit smaller then 7-8 inches, I didnt get an accurate measurement lol, just with my hands. The big bucks with be starting to come in now, heard of a few more being takin in the last week that are beaut's!!

Yea, I dont know if you remember the buck that was posted last year the one that was from princeton which was real big, but the same guy shot one, a nice 4 point that is giving my dads buck a run. The bases are rally thick but the picture took that away, everybody who has seen it has mentioned how they love how thick he is.
