For anyone who has one of these Newer version of the Garmin in reach explorer are you happy with the Topo maps it comes with in place of the Back roads version? Also how user friendly is it? Thanks!

Also mine did not come loaded with any maps on it? Garmin said this is not normal. Does anyone else on here use this model that wouldnt mind answering some newbie questions? PM me if so. Cheers!

I have one of these , it comes with basic "maps" which has most roads, fs roads , elevation lines and creeks . If that makes sense .

I was pleased with it. You can have more details if you pair it to your phone and run the Earthmate app.

Did yours have the maps already on it out of the box? Took mine up the mountain after setting up the subscription and it had no maps on it?? Not sure if i have to put the maps on from my lap top first? Sorry but im terrible at this tech stuff lol.

Yes it should come with maps already on it out of the box. They are pretty basic but have worked well for my needs. As others have said you can download the earthmate on your phone and then pair it to the garmin. The downloadable maps on the earthmate app are more detailed and having it paired to your phone makes messaging with it a breeze compared to trying to type on the gps
