Any specific areas around Sparwood??
Elk numbers are still way down. Other than a small shower the other morning, we haven’t had any significant rain in weeks.

Maybe 10 years ago i went hunting solo in that area for elk. I camped down the Corbin rd which goes to the mine and hunted tent mountain and a few other areas. Get up early and try and be up the mountain and catch elk coming up. Beautiful country,i had my chances but did not connect. If you get a bull to answer,go after him,do not wait for him to come to you.
Rut hunting elk in the rockies,go for it.

^^^^can be dependent upon if the bull has cows or not.
I have screwed a couple of hunts getting "too close" on a lone bull that was coming in.
But yes, generally, head towards them but use cow call.
Works well if bull calls a lot but, its gets tricky when he stays quiet.
you never know which way was best until "afterwards" I suppose?

Never spent any serious time hunting elk in that direction.
