Hey folks,

Looking for any info I can get on access into 7-19 south of Highway 52 for elk off the Wapiti FSR or Red Deer FSR. Are the roads maintained out there? Quad access only? Are elk all down in the thick areas or is there some glassing opportunities?

Some. Some. They are where you find them.

Not sure if cryptic in a good way or not, but I'll take it.

if I read the regs properly, you're not allowed to use a quad for hunting purposes in 7-19

You can go a lot of places on a quad before you hit 1400m in that zone. I have never hunted elk there, but have seen several elk there. a good truck will get you lots of places. Roads are OK. There is a reason it's called wapati, and red deer. If you know how to find elk, and have a bit of time to invest, your trip will be worthwhile. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Beautiful area to hunt. I suspect a lot of hunters though by the tent frames and meat poles hung up every couple miles on the ojay road.

Thanks for the assurance! I'm familiar with how to find them, just looking for a better opportunity than my local area!

Yeah I was wondering what kind of pressure there might be there. Its tucked away but looks like a great area if you have a basic idea of how to review a map.

Not keen on areas that see a lot of pressure, will have to think about where I can get away from it.

It's a big bush there. I'm not so sure what kind of hunting pressure there is or isn't. Seemed at the bogging of the ojay there was a lot of campers. The farther I went the less traffic. This was 2 weeks ago

Reviving a thread here, question: Does this area hold solid moose populations as well? Typical to Tumbler and further North?

I'm not so sure about moose. In the past years the fw have been taking care of wolves. I don't know if that entails shooting moose for bait.
