New hunter Cowichan Valley

Hey with everything going on out there I thought what perfect time to learn about hunting. With every back roads gated in the south island and private lands everywhere. Where does one go and hunt deer legally. I would ike to do some scouting but do not know where to start. Thanks

If you can still get onto the Gordon river Fsr... 48°44'57"N 124°19'39"W Waypoints one of the decent valley around that area where I chased a few big trails but could never pull the trigger. If you aren’t afraid of hiking those steep west coast mountains. Good spot.

Good spots are so hard to find no one will volunteer info. That said there are deer everywhere. I’ve seen and shot deer on well travelled main roads and way far back behind locked gates. Just gotta get after it!
