Hi guys,

Im trying to get some goat-count data that i know took place last year, but the bio i've been in contact has either been away or been ignoring my emails for the last 5 months. :???:

Is there anyone else that i can reach out to in the ministry to obtain this data from? If so, who?

Thanks guys!

I was denied the data for a certain sheep population, they cited conservation concerns and would not release to me (they stated the GOS was a political issue while there is still conservation concern)

sheep data is a bit more sensitive than goats perhaps, but possibly could be what is going on with your request

He offered to send the data to me, before our communication ended.
I still don't know if i'm being ignored, if his email changed, or if dude got fired or something lol.

I'm not getting a notification that email was undelivered, so it must be reaching a valid inbox somewhere.

There is a layer on imap bc that shows wildlife counts. It'd be hard to get population composition out of it, but you can at least pinpoint when and where the animals were spotted. Often indicates sex as well, but that may be difficult to verify with goats. It's possible that survey has not yet been uploaded to imap, but its worth a look. Someone on here made a tutorial video on how to add that layer I think.

I googled for a wildlife biologist for the region and it cae ip with a name.

The biologist did eventually get back to me, but the data they had was a few years old and a bit crude in terms of the population markings.

Dont expect a very detailed map.

Maybe try Gerald Kuzak, provincial ungulate specialist

Which region data are you looking for? I know they did a survey this year in lower mainland as well.
