All,

Anyone know the reasoning behind the Oct 1-15 no moose hunting of these areas? I see its also in parts of zone 6 too.

Rut would be my uneducated guess, a lot of places outside of BC prohibit hunting during the rut unfortunately.

Political I'm pretty sure. I know that for years there have been certain people complaining about licenced hunters in the Moose Lake area competing with them. Similar to the south end of Teslin Lk - has a rutting closure because the FN like to have a big moose camp down there and don't want us in there competing with them. Not sure about the Smith River area.

I have fished Bull trout many times where the lake runs out and is fantastic! And more often than not, I have watched moose swim/walk across. I know there are some FN cabins on there, so would not be a surprise for this to be part of the reason.

This^^^. Lots of areas in the Peace region are closed to rifle during the moose rut but are open to archery...

There is a huge section up there that is closed from Oct 1-15. I think they just want to slow the pace of harvest.

Can only imagine how packed it will be up there in September now

Yeah, the thought of driving 18 hours to be in a crowded hunting area just doesn't resonate with me. Pass.
