I’m just putting together my meals for a trip in a couple of weeks. I thought I’d post what I’m up to and see what others are doing to get their calories in. I’m going to post a bit and add to it as I remember more. I usually fill a vacuum seal bag with either two days worth of food for one person or in this case I’m putting one day of food for me and my 11 year old. I’ve been using the recipes for adventure by chef glen along with some of my own recipes.

One person one day-
breakfast
-oatmeal 2 packs
or- chef glens scrambled eggs and polenta with cheese and veggies

lunch
one pack of ichiban(I don’t know why I crave these in the mountains, I can’t stand them at home)

snacks
-3 squares of Lindt excellence dark chocolate(I like the chili pepper, sea salt and caramel, or the 70% cocoa)
-trail mix (I can’t remember if it’s one cup of half cup)
-dried bananas
-one dried apple (the green sour kind) Or a ripe pear
-one pack of emergen-c
-one fruit leather or fruit 2 go bar
-one clif bar (nut butter filled)

Dinner-
-chili
-chef glens stew

I find my kid needs more snacks than me during the long days. He needs a good power up every couple of hours. He’s a little more lean than me too.

I’m going to work on the calories and weight in the next week or two. I’ll update as I go

How long are you going for?

2 days? Pack of bacon and jar of peanut butter

14 days?...

Need pancakes, sausages, eggs, hash browns and bacon! Now that’s a breakfast! Sometimes swap out the pancakes for waffles!
Be a man!

All kidding aside what about the dried up food packs you can buy, some would have protein, or some beef jerky?

We’re heading to jasper for 4 days at the end of the month.

Next trip is nine days into Willmore park.

Willmore is an awesome spot. Well whole continental divide really.

Are you back packing the whole time prepping for a back country trip? Or just wanting to make sure you got calories going in?

Not sure what campfire regulation is in right now... but could take some dry Bannock mix and just add water... there's also Idahoan mashed potatoes or just add water pancake mix

If you go with oatmeal for breaky then Ichiban for lunch, then you are definitely lacking protein for a good chunk of the day.
You’d be better off adding a protein bar or jerky to the Ichiban for lunch.
