My wife and I bought 10 acres near Spruce View Alberta. 2600 Sq foot shop for under $500000. We move Wednesday. I have a couple of friends there and have locked a deer hunting invite. I'll start breeding EnglishPointers and hit the birds hard. Very excited

Welcome to Alberta 1/2 slam!

I moved from the Island the better part of 10 years ago now. We still get back to the Island a few times a year to visit family and friends but neither my wife or myself have any interest in moving back. We're pretty content living here and even with the down-turn Alberta has been very good for us. Plus, even if it is -30 below it’s sunny out. I quite like a good downpour but I didn’t realize until I left how much I didn’t like the endless winter months of just plain dreary weather.

If only the salmon fishing was a bit better here....

Good luck with the move, I feel like ANYWHERE in Alberta would be vastly superior to Abbotsford these days... good choice ! And good timing.

Remember to sponsor a BC hunter so that he can reciprocate......

if walleye and lake trout don't more than compensate for the loss of salmon, I would be super surprised...I promise you will not miss the salmon!!!

Well, Wildone moved to Alberta last year.
Sounds like you are making the right choice in his books, especially when it comes to hunting and some other "affairs"

Vancouver Island is hard to beat for quality of life. Loved AB for the Oilpatch contracts but living there after what I have seen, not a chance in Hell.

Cheers

If your pointers have any difficulty finding the birds I'll come out with my griff to give them some pointers! Haha. Sure would be nice to have access to places like that here in BC without having to join a club. Sounds like you'll be in hunting paradise!

It's too bad you're leaving, but you wont be far. Alberta is the better option for the dogs, bird hunting and owning acreage. Good luck in your next chapter........the whitetails are in trouble.

Welcome to Alberta! I did the move 17 years ago, but still miss the ocean. Hoping to retire back in BC. Still a Canucks fan though.
