Looking to hunt in the high country for early season muleys around Smithers/Houston. Read as much as I can about habitat and behaviour and they should be up be up there right? Any thoughts are appreciated though. Am I just out for a nice hike or worth the walk...??

In the north the deer are less inclined to be in the alpine as compared to down south I think. I have seen them there but the odd one. Smithers/Houston some deer do disperse out to higher country in the summer but the majority are in the valley bottom.

As two feet said the northern deer dont seem to hang out in the alpine that the southern deer frequent.

Thanks for the advice and input guys. When you say farther south are we talking PG or farther? I’m keen to get up more because I like that country more, but I’m selfish like that.

When you hit the Chilcotin you can start to find good bucks in the alpine, or so i have heard.
