I'd like to know too. Planning to hit area around Murphy lakes for bear, wolf, coyote over the weekend. Is the FSR open?

Pushing 2 feet of snow in some places that way. Good luck. Even if you make it in the first shady switchback you hit will be game over. Probably 2 more weeks for that area imo

Wow thanks for the heads up. I was just going by the webcam at Britton which looks snow free.

Your would be better off going in from Princeton side, pretty sure you could bet up on top from there....

I was up Tulameen a few weeks ago and there was a LOT of snow. Probably significantly better now

We have decided to give it a go to trying and reach Murphy Lake. If not, I'll have a chance to try my new bell tent with a wood stove and enjoy some steaks! Will sight in my rifle too. Weather is nice so might as well spend the weekend in isolation in the bush.

What about Murray lake rd a little further up
the coquihalla
is there access there yet
does anyone know

Murray is higher, you might get past Gillis but once you hit the FSR to the lake, start walking.
I was in Tulameen 3 weeks past setting up the trailer. NOT one road was passable beyond 2km except the mine road. The snow cat on 2 feet of snow sideways at the mine gate was clue enough for me!!

Just returned from Tulameen on Tuesday, nobody was getting through, or very far at all from the COQ according to the Locals.
Lots of sledding still going on.
It has been pretty warm recently but there's a lot of snow up there.
The hills around Tulameen itself are pretty clear.

Just got home, saw a very good bear on a road I know well but cannot reach due to high snow on the road in and high water between us. 9km west of town is all I could go on Lawless and Owl Creek FSR up behind the mine.

Next weekend that bear is in for it, be damned the river!!!

Next weekend is the May Long Weekend.
Please obey the "essential travel only" edict and stay at home.
A couple of trips ago when the Princeton and Tulameen Facebook Sites were full of "stay the F@#$ home" I, of course didn't and went up anyway.
There was one very small, homemade sign on a fence in Downtown Coalmont "STAY HOME"
We'll be up after the Long Weekend, don't like crowds.

Lots of snow this past winter. Tooled around Sunday Summit and Placer areas this weekend, saw one good bear this morning but he gave us the sniff. Lots of deer and grouse, which is good to see.

hunting and fishing is deemed essential service, I own a cabin like yourself, where will you be?

i get what you’re saying but when you’re travelling back and fourth then say to others don’t travel? Just saying they will not listen as they are limited to time and location ..

Actually I was being facetious, ergo the "wink."
Our place is in Tulameen, down the road a bit from where Steelco hangs out. Just giving him the gears a bit.
A while back there was a real uproar from Princeton and to a much lesser extent Tulameen from people, usually local residents who were quite vocal about having us "Coast People" , "604's", "Weekenders" and such "stay the eff away."
Most of the Locals don't have a problem with it.
We'll be up after the Long Weekend for a week or so.

Everyone i saw was friendly. The big camp along the river was by no means social distancing, but they were sticking to their own. Only person I even came 20ft from was the son of the Rabbit mountain ranch. Tried to help me find a way across the river to MY bear!!

Good luck, the River has been rising pretty quickly with the melt.
Some earlier predictions were that the Lake wouldn't flood much at all as the area North of the Lake which feeds it was pretty bare but the area that feeds the River still has lots of snow. Oh well, if the River gets too high I can fish from my deck. :-(
Gun Range hasn't opened yet, hopefully next trip.

Got back yesterday - still lots of snow, made it 100 yards on Tulameen FSR when we turned around. Went to Carolyn Mines road, no snow there at all. It was really hot, hiked a bit and came across one bear that took off as soon as we saw him. That was the only action we saw..will have to wait until the snow melts to hit Tulameen FSR again.

The lake is half way up the lawn at the beach. The river came up TONS Saturday alone, same weekend last year I could get much further back than this year. The river is quite dirty too, must have been a slide higher up?

Anyone been on the road last week or so since steelco last update. I know they got a dusting recently. Staying at coq lodge mon to Thursday for fishing and going to pop into the area for bears too with family.
Cheers

Nate - i attempted Tulameen today and the snow began a few kilometer in. I relocated and am now hunting at a lower elevation off the coq. I did see a jeep come through from the direction of tulameen, but it did not look promising for bear as there was very little green at this time. Could be another couple of weeks.. hope this helps

Just left town again today, nobody at the store could say one way or another. A few roads I could use this week last year bit me hard, 90 min of winching to get out. I'd wait a week more

Damn Tulameen have to drive 20 to avoid hitting deer on the road.
You folks really need to cull those things

That's only in Town, outside of Town we just hit 'em, toss 'em in the truck and they are in the freezer pretty quick.
Actually on the trip us this AM, only saw one deer the whole trip and that was on #3 maybe 15 km. west of Princeton. Usually see dozens.
Haven't seen any in Town yet today, usually they bug the hell out of the dogs when a small herd of 'em walk by the place.
Most exciting thing I saw on the dog walk thru Town tonight was the new, covered outdoor seating at the Trading Post.
But back on topic, everyone I've chatted with today said a definite "No" to coming in from the COQ.

Let me know next time you pass thru', I'll offer you a beer if I'm around.
Not a Baltika tho' - really like the taste but can't support anything from that Commie, or Socialist, or Fascist  Country.
I'm her every 2nd week or so, hav eyet to see any signs of bear down low.
Might grab the mutt tomorrow or Weds. and pop up Rabbit or Cook Creek just to look around, I'm not into bear but the kid is.

I went up a road I had seen lots of sign a few years back and found campers, kids shooting and snow.

Saw a good sized bear at the Falls Lake exit wolfing down grass last night on the drive home at 8:15pm. There's still patches of snow around the Summit area but most of the roads are in good shape
