After a long hunt and helping Hagen drag his elk (zippermouth creek area) with the quad it was my turn to get something. After some bad luck with the quad (won't start now) I got off my butt and went for a hike...
20 mins later down an old trail I was standing off to the side and down came a black bear. It happened so fast... drop to my knees pull the hammer back point and shoot! My new 30.06 rifle did the job with the help of barnes 168 triple shock bullets. 20 yard shot at a 5' black bear and it buckled and ran into the thick bush about 20 more yards and died. Hagen helped me pack the bear out whole on a pole and we took it to a local taxidermist to get it skinned so I can get it tanned and he is doing the skull up for me too...

For my fist kill after years of trying im super happy with every aspect of the hunt!

good first bear. zipper mouth creek is pretty popular this year?? this creek holds bears, elk, deer, goats, moose, caribou and sheep. probably the odd buffalo as well.
