Thinking about switching the treble hooks out on trout spoons so that I don't have to worry about changing them when I go out to different waters and streams. But can't find any good suggestions on the best kind of hook to replace them with.

Suggestions?

Gamakatsu makes very good quality hooks.

As dancer mentioned, gamakatsu are good. You’ll want siwash for the spoons, pick whatever size you need depending what size your spoons are. The open siwash are easy to install, just close the eye with pliers after you get rid of the trebles.

Gamakatsu siwash
But really any straight shank open eye hook.
I have vision canada hooks, gamakatsu and eagle claw.
Gamakatsu are the sharpest

I've always loved Gamakatsu hooks.

Lately, I've been switching all my spoons over the the Gamakatsu Big River Bait open eye siwash hooks.

I've had bad experience with vision hooks snapping in half. Only use gamakatsu nowadays.

another fan of the gammies, easier to find than owner hooks but both have been good for me

you could try the trailing hook method too, I started trying this last year and so far I'm happy with the results, only do this on steelhead spoons though

Hmm tried some Mustads, not impressed, Gamy hooks have not failed me.

Gamakatsu Siwash. I won't even look at another brand.

The trailing method? A second hook attached to the first or leader off the spoon and a hook tied to that?

here's a quick link i googled, i'm sure there is more info online about it, I'm sure i've read about it on the fish bc and fsihing with rod forums too...the thinking is less leverage for the fish to pop the hook out, and can use a smaller hook for better catch and release compared to the usual siwash hooks

I find they really shine on short strikes too, I catch a lot more cutties and small bulls mixed in with the steelhead

Gamakatsu siwash. Using them on pretty much all my river tackle for the past couple years.

This looks like a really good technique to use. Might try it on my larger spoons for steelhead too.

Gamakatsu or Owner makes a good hook too.
