The only way to save the steelhead is to stop gillnetting in the streams and rivers. Shoot the sea lions and seals at the river mouth and wait.

That's intresting that the government
curtail recreational and commercial fishing that could be harmful to the endangered steelhead, and develop a hatchery program. That's intresting that the government want's to curtail sport fishermen and commercial fishermen but no mention of native nets.

In 1986 you could buy a cooler full of steelhead that were delivered to your door. Then then the fisheries had an observer on the gill net boats. Any boat without an observer sold the by catch.
And no I never bought any steelhead, just small coho from the trollers. They got 25 cents at the buyer and I would give them a dollar for 2lb coho.
Never had any seals in the mouth of the Skeena river. Gill netters were snipers!!
