This year has been awesome for my son and I (turned 7 years old last month): he has really developed a love for hiking, hunting, & fishing, which was my number one goal outdoors wise this year...we did not harvest any big game together, but he learned that it's all about just getting out there and enjoying yourself, getting fresh air and exercise..getting something is a bonus...most of my hunting this year he tagged along, with not too much complaining along the way..

So I learned a valuable lesson on the day when the pics below were taken: lol don't give a 6 year old a 1 L gatorade to chug an hour before getting in a canoe...while in the boat, he literally pissed 8 times in one hour - luckily I had an empty bottle in the boat, well after about the 4th time I learned another valuable lesson: don't give the bottle to the 6 year old and let them try to hold it while peeing in the bottle - ya he tried that and proceeded to let his fire hose get out of control and pissed all over my pants and my boots - good memories..

I took these couple bucks without him present for the harvest, but he was stoked when I brought them home and helped with a lot of the processing...

Due to family commitments, we had only 3/4 of a day to hunt the GOS spike fork bull moose season....better than nothing...I let him do the calling (not easy to keep them entertained for that long) - his bull grunt ain't actually half bad..

But as any of you with kids will know, after several hours of hunting, sometimes you just have to let them make some noise, like pretending to play the drums, or breaking ice in puddles...yes, that is why it can be very difficult to actually harvest anything with young kids...

Again, after a little while you just gotta let them stop and play, like with their multi-tools tearing bark from a log...

Just awesome, Josh!!
Cherish every moment with your little guy. Time will go by a lot faster than you expect.

I miss those days in the bush with my daughter. Seems like it was just a few months ago when she was your son’s age....and now she graduates from high school this year.

Thanks for sharing your pics and experiences together.

That is what it is all about you and the boy having a great day in the outdoors. That is so great he likes to hang out with dad.
A very special bond you and your son have priceless.
Yes kids can be only quiet for so long then you gotta let them have some fun. Maybe next time you see a mud puddle you should jump in it I am sure your son will get a laugh about that. I see you have snow so that may not be for awhile.

Great Pictures and Memories my man.
It's true, you have to keep the entertained at times and let them have their way.
Other times they can be more hardcore then yourself, telling you "you are walking too loud"!...lol.

Anyways, so many of those photo's remind me of me and my dad, and it seemed to work as I enjoy the outdoors a lot.
You are definitely going down the right road with your son and will shape his future forever.
Instead of being a teen who might get into trouble with a certain group of friends, he will be out fishing or hunting!!!

So many benefits to hunting and fishing, it cant be covered in a few words.
Great stuff, and its obvious how proud each of you are of "each other"!
