Hey, I talked to a Co about an hour ago...and he informed me that it is not illegal to use salt blocks. But, it is a matter if the hunter thinks that is ethical. So I guess salt blocks are a personal choice. The Co agreed with me that it is unethical....what can you do... Personally, I don't agree with the law. I my opinion it is BAITING.

You can bait ungulates. You can't bait bears. A salt block is NOT illegal for attracting ungulates, nor are apples, hay, alfalpha, etc.
If it's within the law, it's not up to us to judge a hunter's methods just because they are different from ours.

Actually, baiting for ungulates is completely LEGAL in BC. Apples and slat blocks are common methods.

Yup, baiting is legal for ungulates, I guess it's time for some to read the regs again.
I don't see very many salt blocks, but I guess some guys put them out.

I had collected a bunch of apples from friends tree last year and left piles of apples out in various locations. There were deer in the area but they did nt touch them the entire week i was there!
Would like to try salt lick for in front of my new trail cam

Salt is what is keeping elk at my trail cam set. They have been recorded hanging around for 1 hr 10 mins at one time then my card filled up as getting 3 pix a minute. So I don't know how long they were there in total but long time licking salt.
My block was once 50 lbs 2 years ago, now its 7 lbs. And its under a covered tree.
Why not, the block in this pic is almost gone in 1 year only by deer, (no cattle around)
