Nikon is pulling out of the scope business .. so I wonder how they will take care of there long time customers if there is a
warranty issue .. no more replacements ...

I'm sure it will be fine. They likely wont dismantle their warranty department for it and I'm sure they have a good stock pile of parts.

I dont own any of their scopes but I like Nikon stuff. They make good glass. I have their higher end binos and I've been very happy with their performance

I wonder why they decided to do that.... low sales? It's a competitive market out there for low and medium priced scopea.

If anyone hears of any clearance sales for Nikon post up ... I'd be interested in picking one up for the right price.

I could be way off base , but I had originally heard they can’t compete with the likes of vortex no fault any time replacement. Vortex low end glass is just that but upper end models have good glass. Drive over it... whoops I’ll just send it back for a new one. How do you beat that. It almost makes it worth while to go with less quality. I shoot and glass myself with vortex so far I’ve only had to send back binoculars and it was easy and hassle free. And that’s the only reason I go with vortex if I could afford more expensive glass I’d have it.

Kind of a bummer. I use the Monarch 5 binos that are cheaper than the Vortex Viper HDs but looked a fair amount better when I looked through them. I was planning on eventually upgrading them for the top of the line Nikon binos in a year or two because I've been so impressed with the quality. Good value for the money.

I've also been watching for the blackFX scopes they make to go on sale but I might look at other options now.

I used to be a professional sports photographer and have had Nikon gear since the mid 80s. I have their scopes and binos. Sad to hear they are getting out, (what is the source for this info?) but to be honest, I was surprised they made scopes in the first place.

Edit: Found this link: https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/nikon-is-exiting-the-rifle-scope-business/

At least it seems like a market based decision rather than political or social pressure based as they are continuing production of the rest of their firearm related products.

Nikon went down hill after they moved there production from Japan to the Philippines ,same place as Vortex .

From what I read it just said due to competitive market

Our local dealer stopped selling them a few years ago because of quality issues. Myself I own one that is on a A-Bolt 243 WSSM that is at the back of the safe. Never had an issue but never used it much.

Nikon is in financial trouble.
I wouldn't be surprised if they file for chapter 11

Nikon distancing themselves from rifle scopes which can be mounted on the terrible black assault rifle. It has nothing to do with competitive marketplace, everything to do with them looking ahead at the future of their company. Nikon has slipped to #3 behind Canon & Sony, they'd be further behind when news gets out that Nikon supplies mass shooters with sniper scopes

That sucks...
Have a scope from them on my .22.
Hope I never have issues, as warranty and replacement is always a concern before buying a product, especially a scope, binos.

That sounds like a good offer. I will send you a Nikon Monarch, and you send me your Z3.

If it's anything like their camera department, it's no wonder they are going tit's up, had Nikon for 40 some yrs and their quality and warranty are the shit's, Just my thought's as I'm lookin for a new camera to go with $8000 worth of Nikon not so good stuff, can't even buy a card for a D70 and they want to sell me a 7500 that came on the market 8 yrs ago and forget Costco for Nikon as their stuff is all from the last 2 yrs and that's why they give such a good deal until you need help from Nikon themselves.

It looks like they're just getting out of rifle scopes they're still going to make spotting Scopes and binoculars

With the success of the Monarch line of binos, I'd be very surprised if they were to ever to leave the bino market. Pretty much best products in their price ranges.

its only the scopes they are backing away from binos and spotting scopes are still being made.

They are pulling out of the laser rangefinder market as well as any binoculars with camo etc.

It seems that they are dissociating themselves with anything hunting.

I was at Cabelas yesterday and the Nikon rep told the hunting department manager they are pulling out of several products

i said that on CGN when it was originally posted it’s abundantly clear. Nikon thinks guns = bad now. Has their been a senior leadership change recently ?

this is why I support HUNTING and SHOOTING companies.

Sounds like Nikon needs some management changes.
They dipped below Canon and Sony in camera sales, because they were too slow to realise that they need to come out with a good mirrorless camera. Instead, they continued to peddle their D3200 type DSLRs that almost no one wants anymore. Like, seriously, who wants a cheap, entry-level crop sensor DSLR anymore, that for 85% of the situations takes WORSE pictures than any modern smart phone?

Plenty of companies support hunting and are proud of it. I don't think disassociating wiith hunting will have any impact on your sales of cameras and i don''t think that is the reason. Probably just refocusing their efforts elsewhere.

Vortex, Zeiss, Swarovski all cater to the hunting community and target them through ads etc and they are doing fine. Leica is in the riflescope and camera business and theyy do just fine as well.

I don't think this has anything to do with the appearance of being linked to firearm industry, they have been in financial trouble for a while now

They are a huge company with a lot of divisions and hunting optics has never been their core business, while they did make some good products, were they ever really leaders there? all they did was match the competition, it was a side project at best, in the grand scheme of things I'd doubt their hunting market strategy has ever been discussed at any board table, it's barely a drop in the bucket

they have been implenting a corporate restructing for several years now, management restructuring across the company has already happened, and now focusing on core business enhancements for medium term growth and new tech development for long term growth, they launched their healthcare unit a few years back and are increasing focus there

company in trouble, stop the bleeding, focus on what earns the money...and that's just not rifle scopes for them

They made some great scopes I still have a couple. But for whatever reason they just didn't find the love in the hunting world, always year end sales with deep discounts because not enough were selling I can only assume. While the Vortex', Leupolds, Burris et al who advertise heavily and focus on hunting and shooting succeed. Too big of a company with too man balls in the air I'd say. Someone had a look at the books and see they're not making squat on rifle scopes so pull the pin small part of their game really. Concentrate on cameras, binocs telescopes where they do make money.
