WICKED pictures. Crisp, clean colours .
Where did you find that porcupine ? Are they generally up high or down low ? I've always wanted to see one.
I'd be happy finding a buck like that this weekend as I'm heading to a new area to try for some decent mulies, good inspiration.

Daycourt,
I'm shooting an Olympus SP 55OUZ. For a point and shoot, it does performs pretty damn good. The 18x optical zoom helps, but when you are 15 yards from a bachelor group of bucks like those 3, you don't need the full zoom. ;)

BlacktailStalker,
I normally find porky's up high, in the Spruce/Subalpine Fir zones. The one in the pics was the second one I saw during the weekend.

Cody wasn't with me when I saw those bucks or else one of them would have hit the ground. I did have a buddy with me that is a new hunter and he decided to pass. He's never killed a deer before. He said he wants to wait to kill a buck with his brother later on this month. Told him most guys would love to kill a buck of that size, but I respected his decision. He then watched me as I put the stalk on with the camera and got within 15 yards. I was pretty pumped. Gonna try to find them again this weekend with Cody. Now that the General Season is here, he's not going to be so picky. :)

That first 4x4 looks to have a very swollen neck for this time of year. Or is he just that FAT?

Nice pics as usual Dana.

Nice pics Steve. Looks like you made the right choice looking for your goat early. That snow is pretty low for this time of year. TICK TOCK, deer season is right around the corner!!

OT,
Damn rights I'm lucky taking that goat early. Was pushing snow with the bumper at mid elevation in that country this weekend. I certainly wouldn't have wanted to be in the high country. Pretty Nasty for the past week. Glad I took the first and only goat I saw. Thinking the early hunt is the way to go in that country.
Gonna start focusing back on deer again. With the general season on, Cody is ready to hammer any buck now.

Yeah I dont think that you would want to spend much time in the snow on that goat draw, certainly not on the north side anyway.

I hope you and Cody find that any buck your looking for. One in that group you saw looks pretty decent to me.

Good luck this weekend.
