Kid seems to be outgrowing his boots faster than I can buy them. Typical teen...
Any recommendations on a comfortable brand that aren’t stupidly expensive? Something half decent I could maybe pass along to another kid later on.
Don't want to cheap out, but also don’t want to spend $300+ on something he’ll get one season out of...

Mine hunted in the insulated rubber boots for late fall warm hunting boots (Canadian Tire)

I bought a pair of redhead boots from basspro for when I'm hunting on the quad, and they turned out to be really comfortable, waterproof, and warm. Exceeded my expectation for the price

Might want a cheap raincoat as well. She has nice boots too. https://scontent-sjc3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/74429158_3277690278939929_3262573500115714048_n.jp g?_nc_cat=1&_nc_oc=AQnfL7NdMtrxsiA4DtWo-mPK1bkxZ4Gc7vvEd-dqtkgXwrAGifAVeXSBn7bTtnzNyrA&_nc_ht=scontent-sjc3-1.xx&oh=e87b042ab771194c0e5b9910309b4d47&oe=5E1E3B0C

Solomon GTX 4D, just over 200 on sale, just under 300 if not on sale. A huge step up after the CT hunt shield camo boots I used to wear. Great ankle support, I beat the hell out of them, with gaiters I don’t get wet when walking into streams/bogs. Quick break in as well.

Cheers,

Josh

Have Scarpa ($$$$) and Other name brand boots costing a pretty penny, and I’m quite impressed with these boots I picked up at Bass Pro as well. Way better than expected.

Will have a look at the Redheads next time at Cabelas. Any particular model that impressed you guys? Could do with a new pair of early season hikers myself.

Dont know the model, but the must be an 6"-8" boot. Camo along the sides mixed with brown leather. I think they have orange on the inside of the tongue? I find my self slipping those on when its wet outside and taking the dog for a walk.

Have the same issue with my kid. Bought her a pair of whatever was on sale at cabelas, she will outgrow them by the end of the season and will do it again next fall.

I am a big fan of the "icefishing boots" as we used to call them..insulated rubber boots. if you get them a bit big they are a pain in the butt...tight fitting and they are awesome. (no good for sheep or goat as you want boots that will almost let you dig your toe nails in...heheheh). put a sole liner in the boot to help tighten it up if it is a bit big....perfect moose hunting boots...

Cabelas had the house brand boots on for $99/400gram insulation and $129/800Gram.

Edit: should mention that Bass Pro had the 800grams not Cabelas. Better selection at Bass Pro by a long shot.

Noticed a lot more stuff at BassPro myself. Will have a look at Cabelas next time in Nanaimo, see if there’s any decent sales on

Too bad, I have a pair of Cableas boots from about 10 years ago that have excellent support, have lasted, and are very warm. They werent expensive and were one of the best moneys worth I have gotten out of hunting attire.

I was going to suggest Cabelas,,,,

I picked up a pair of these for 240ish as a spare and have been thoroughly impressed. Wore them to retrieve my gear and elk rack 2000 feet up an avalanche chute and my feet were good. Crossed right through a river on my way back to camp and no water came in

We've had really bad luck with Bogs (they leak) - really good luck with Muck - kid is 10. Haven't had luck finding Muck boots on sale though.

I also got him a pair of last year's model Columbia Bugaboot (which is a really warm snow boot) at Winners of all places ($60 regular $100 if I remember right).

Has anyone heard of Daffo boots? I bought a pair about 17 or 18 years ago for backups, but honestly don’t recall where I found them and haven’t seen them since.

I have a pair of Daffo composite toe work boots. I used them as my motorcycling boots for years now. I bought them at the safety gear place in New West. Bigfoot I think?
