Hello all.
I’ve been hunting in region 5 this past week and I have seen many does, no bucks...
most of the does I’ve seen still have fawns with them. I thought they were just small does as they looked the same (no spots) and were almost as big as the other does, but then I saw them nursing off the larger doe. I thought it was kinda odd to see that this time of year....
My question is when do they does chase off the fawns?
When they go into heat?
when they just run out of milk to feed them?
Or just before they have new fawns chase off the older ones?

From what I've read: your last statement is correct, theywill chase off the yearlings once they give birth next spring..

Hmmm lots of 3 point..4 point taking dirt naps..most last hour of day..region 5..was @ my Drs. He got a 3 x4..last week..his hunting partner a buck too..
Buddies wife shot a 3 point at 11 am.
Look for fire weed for bucks..
The does and fawns do winter together....

fawns usually stay with the doe over winter, likely getting progressively looser in relation to her as spring gets near

I did find a deer leg, so somebody in the area got their buck.
would it be a good plan to stick to that area around where the does are and wait for another buck to move into the area?

Bucks are still on their A game. Almost got a monster on Friday in the thick timber. But from my observations there was no pre rutt activity happening yet. I’m taking a bench untill prime time starts

I haven’t seen any rubs or scrapes yet. I’ve got a few more days in the area. I think I might explore a new area tomorrow

I'd explore around and find where you want to focus your efforts.

Mule deer dance starts to build November 5 through the 18th, generally.
