Hey Guys,
I'm looking at buying a nice wall tent/stove/frame set-up this winter/spring and want some advice on what to look for when selecting a tent.
Right now I"m looking at a Beckel Eena TT Tent right now, but not sure if I'll go to an actual wall tent or with the TT model.
Any comments, suggestions, brands, etc?

Do a search and you'll find good info as it's been covered before so some people might not be enthusiastic enough to give full details.
Davis tent and awning makes wicked tents, several people as well as myself have ordered from them and I am extremely happy with mine.
Dont cheap out on options, get everything you think you may want later, now.
I went with a 14x16, full floor with zip out for stove, dual doors with screens and colorado storm flaps, screened windows in both walls.
If you want the best walll tent stove ever made contact Dave Laurie here in courtenay and get on the lost for his spring production order for his Kettle River wood stoves. He only makes 17 per year and anyone who has one will swear by it. Like me :)

I recently had the pleasure of staying in a Davis Wall tent owned by The Hermit. It is one sweet abode, and I would buy one right now if I didn't already know that Hermit will lend me his anytime I need it! Right Hermit???

I bought a Bighorn 2 from Cabela's. Cost $629 for poles, 12x14 tent (with 3 windows, and sewn in floor) and stove on a promotion. Stove is a cheapo model that does not burn more than 3-4 hours before you have to add more wood, but the price was right. Total cost shipped to my Dad's in Birch Bay $670 CDN. I saved around $1300 compared to a similarly sized wall tent with internal frame and stove. With the money I saved I bought a half decent pair of binoculars, cots, lansky sharpener, and still had enough cash to pay for fuel to get up north and back a couple of times. As much as I like to buy Canadian, it is tough with the strong dollar these days.

Guys if you want the best canvas wall tent buy here:

http://www.springbar.com/wall_tents/

Tents are made in the USA and the price is unbeatable for the quality. I paid about $700 CDN for a 12 x14 with stove jack, window, zippered door and storm flap, mildew and fire treated.

Will be using in 2 days for the first time.

Thanks for the tips guys.....

I've actually looked at the Cabelas BigHorn and the Cabelas Alaknak, and am currently trying to decide whether I'll go that direction or go to a canvas wall tent....

Thanks for the links guys.

I'd recommend canvas. Will probably last a lot longer (mine's over 50 years old) and you'll never have condensation problems like you might get in a "plastic" tent. Errant sparks won't melt holes in it either.

The problem with canvas tents, as I found living in them extensively while employed in wilderness work is MOLD, especially here in wet BC. I have long since sold my canvas tents and now use only synthetics, including a Kifaru 8-man tipi with large stove that works like a hot dam.

I also use Integral Designs and Hilleberg tents, just packing my Saivo plus XP-20 tarp for a trip next week to the Kootenays to try for a late-season Elk. I have found these to be the finest I have ever used in many years of intensive tent use.

Another option is that tent made in Seattle from some sort of special fabric that will not mold, mildew or rot, something like Spec-Tech???? Mind you, in dry Alberta, IF, you have space to dry your tent after each use, the canvas wall tents are a good idea as I have found it gets just a tad "nippy"there in late season!

BTW, Trev, if interested still in that Kifaru, I have lowered the price due to the change in our dollar value, PM me here if you want it.

Lots to consider.
I left out that drying your tent immediately after each use is KEY or you will get mold build up on your canvas.
But really its no different than wiping down your gun after a day in the rain, its common practice to take care of anything a guy owns if he wants it to last. Definitely not a big deal.
Mines hanging as we speak :)
