Being as we didn't manage to collect one of those coveted moose leh tags we just spent the last 5 days trying our luck out at finding the elusive spike-fork bull moose.

We spent the first two days out the Blackwater Rd...until we talked to two fellows that had been in the area for 12 days and only seen two cows...so we up and moved our camp to our top secret honey-hole #2. The next morning we were moose viewing from our ages old ground blind a 5x5 bull and a cow..that evening..from the same spot...a very large 40"er was sashaying around...and a spike/fork bull was chasing a cow with calf around..and swimming across a lake when spotted[no shots allowed]..and then another larger 5x5 bull..and another 4x3 [getting closer] and a couple of cows...and a nice 3x2 mulie buck popped for the freezer [sorry no pics]...and this whole time only three trucks came into the are we were hunting. In the evening and morning you could hear the bulls 'barking' in the timber...so they are not quite into the rut yet..but what an awsome experience, seeing so many fine animals..even if all we could do was size them up.:p:p

There are no moose left in 7-10. Good thing you got out of there. Why on earth would you drive all that way from Giscome anyways???

Because we hunted four days in 7-9 across the river from my place for three days and only found 2 black bears, one cow/calf pair and one 5x4 bull. Not enough game per square mile.

I think he ment he dident shoot it because the moose was swimming...was there no shot available after the moose got out of the lake??
