Early Geese coming

I live on the Sunshine Coast and while working in yard this afternoon just after 5pm I saw large flock of geese heading south flying very high. They were snow geese, this is early, I normally don't see them until the end of October. Wonder if this is a sign of a early winter?

I can’t profess to knowing much about a birds migratory preferences, but I can swear on a bible that it was 0c and snowing like a bugger here (150 Mile House) today. Is there a connection? Your guess is as good as mine.
