I have watched this guy for a month.
So this is the opening day of any buck in the cariboo. I was out before the sunrise to be in the spot. It is a 3 year old. It was always around mom with her twins. So just find the mom and twins and he will be around. Sausage deer. Cool to have the hunting grounds start right at my driveway. The deer hangout was 1 km away. 7:15 am and he met his maker. 1 pm and he was all over my butcher table. The rear quarters is all that is left to do. 1/2 of him is in the freezer. Old and tired. Now a bear to help fill the freezer.

Just under 50 lbs of meat. Only bones are in the ribs. Back strap and tenderloins into steaks and the rest into burger for sausages later. Thanks for the reply's. Hands are really soft from deer fat.
Now I need a bear to hang out long enough to see if it has cubs. Before it disappears into the bush. Passed on 3 because I couldn't see if it was a mom. Brush too tall and they were looking around. Now the leaves are going so any time now. More grizzly's than ever before. Hope some smart people get in the government and open up the season again. There won't be any moose or deer left if the population keeps exploding. Once the wild animals are gone they will be feeding on ranchers cattle.

Not bad that it took 6 hours from gutting to cut and wrapped and in the freezer. Sharp Victorinox knives help a lot. Watched a beautiful large hawk feed on the trim pile for a bit last night at 6:30pm. Something ate the entire hide and gut pile the night before, I think it was wolves. So I went to watch the trim pile for a bit. Only a hawk came to feed.

I pulled a nice two point out just south of you on opening day as well. Right around Mule Deer Trail. Freezer is looking good!

Hey rock it is a tilt trailer and backed it right up to its butt. Tied it off to the front of the box and jumped up and down on the box to lock it into place. Slid the end gate in place and drove home. Couldn't gut it there due to no one to watch for grizzly's while I did the deed.
Tonight on the way home from shopping the betterhalf wouldn't let me shoot a bear. She is tired too! She says spring is a good time to shoot a bear. LIG

Oh and this pile is less that 200 yards away from where I shot the deer. That is a 2 3/4 inch shotgun shell.

Since sept 10 I have put 400 kms on my atv and only seen 2 bucks. This one and a smaller spike mule deer.
Now I need to go fishing.
