Hey all,

My fiancé and I are looking to add a puppy to the fold this year (or early next).
We have bounced back and forth on what breed (GWP, GSP, Toller, Springer, Lab) to get but are leaning towards a black or choco lab.

The idea is is that the dog will be family companion with a side of hunting assistant.
We live in a large pet friendly 2 bedroom apartment and have flexible work schedules that will allow us to deal with the puppy.

I’ve a few friends and family that have recommended White Robin, but I’m unsure if they are doing the appropriate health checks yet. Short of speaking with them (next step) I haven’t found any updates on this.

Does anyone know of any upcoming litters elsewhere?

Hey Livewire. I live in Burnaby too and have a choco lab. Send me a DM if you want to get together for a coffee or something and I can share my experiences. Our lab is 8 years young and going strong.

Some day retrievers in Kamloops/Cherry creek breeds some top notch hunting dogs as well as service dogs, so both ends of the spectrum energy wise but both top notch in the work ethic. I went for the hunting lab and shes a machine in the field and on the water but super high on the energy scale so not for everybody. Their service/show dogs are more relaxed but still make very smart hunting companions. Linda has been in the game for over 30 years, she knows what shes doin.

x2 on Cedarbrae. My girl Jessie is a Cedarbrae pup. Not sure about upcoming litters, but I'd recommend giving them a call. When I inquired Tracey was planning two litters. I was invited to meet her and her dogs at which time she explained the difference in the litters and the types of dogs they were going to produce and helped me choose the litter that would be the right choice for what I wanted (same as you, a family dog/hunting companion). I was provided with copies of all health checks and clearances.

Well my 1st but dad had one from them as well...

But! Dont go buy a dog because the litter is ready.
Go shop for breeders and find a good one and wait.
Cedarbrae is a good one.

GOOD POST Dru I have known Tracy for years and hunted over her dogs. Can't go wrong for a laid back dog with lots of retrieve in it. What ever you choose be sure ALL appropriate health checks are done

Thank you all for the replies. The names I’m seeing here were/are all on my list save for Dakota Creek.

I will definitely post pictures of the pup when we do get it.

Give Kevin Hill a call at Bellmont Properties.

We got our first dog from him and also put our dog Molly into his gundog training program. Couldn't be happier. Not only do we have great citizen around the house, but I've now got a fantastic hunting partner as well.
