Going with a .270 this year on a few moose trips and since I have never used this caliber im looking to see what factory round anyone has had luck with over the years. Thanks!

I use the hornady interlock for my .270 130 grain for deer. Love it

I am planning the same, 270 for moose and elk, I'm looking at the federal trophy bonded 140gr or 150 partition, using federal fusion 150 for practice as they are almost identical ballistically and cheap to shoot

just pick a well built bullet like TTSX or Accubond, even partition...they all will work well. Shot placement as usual is just as important.

Any premium factory round, monolithics would work well killing wise. Make sure they shoot well out of your pea shooter, and go kill a rubber noze, or bugling ba$tard!! Moosin

If your rifle like Federal powder than I would try a Federal with Nosler Partition.
I am guessing you are keeping the distances fired "respectable".
If really reaching out there, which I don't recommend with a 270 on Moose sized game, than something else.
But the partition is a tried and trued bullet.

Oh Boy, can't wait for the "You at least need a 300 win mag" posts. I don't shoot this calibre but I would say a well constructed bullet and a well placed shot will work. But you make sure your rifle shoots well with which ever bullet you choose. I would start with partition bullets

My old 270 has done some pretty good things with the 140gr Hornady Interloc. Prolly the best non premium, premium bullet on the market still.

The .277 TTSX 110 and 130 grainers are murder on game and aren't afraid of shoulders at all. Were I to start carrying my 270 again, that's what I'd be using.

Oh ya, kindly disregard my last post, you need at least a 300 Short Mag to even think about hunting a moose or elk.

Before i got into handloading, federal premium with 150 nosler partition was my go to factory fodder....many deer, bear, moose fell to that combo

My 270WSM likes 140 gr accubonds best. Choose a premium bullet (Partition, Barnes TTX, Accubond etc.) at a weight your rifle like's best

It would be on my short list too. Also Barnes VorTx 129gr LRX and Federal/Winchester/Nosler 140gr Accubonds

I expected several of the can’t use a .270 for moose comments haha. I’ve had a 300wsm for years but chose to go with the .270 these days. Came with a box of Browning 145gr but not sure the the Bullet type. Says for big game expansion. Not sure this ammo has been around all that long for any reviews?? Thanks for all the input!

It took my first bull moose in 2011 with factory 140gr accubond Federal Premium.
Liquified both lungs and passed through.

I have two 270's a M700 and a M77....both shoot Federal Blue Box 150's very good and seem to have no problem in killing moose. My handloads that work good in both rifles is 58grs of H4831sc and 140 Partitions

When I do use a 270, if I'm not using the handloads then its the Blue Box 150's on moose....:)

Your mileage may vary!

I've used the 150gr RN Corelokt and 130gr Fusion successfully. If the rifle. Shoots the 150gr Fusion well then use it.

While I've never used a .270, all the Moose I've killed have been with Remington Core Lokt and they've all mushroomed beautifully, retained weight, and the ones I've found have been just inside the far hide.

While it's cheap ammo, in the guns I have that shoot it well I have every confidence that it will perform well on game.

I am a big fan of Partitions however my 308 T3 is not. Last moose I shot (and a few deer) have all been with 165 Fusions and I've been really happy.

Yes, some rifles only like some bullets or even powder.
My old Husky 270 does "not" like Federal at all!, no matter which box I buy from them.
Have had to stick to Winchester ammo, and regardless of bullet, it shoots fine (some absolutely awesome, and other okay).
have talked to Reliable and one of the brothers and his Husky was the same.
So yes, some guns only like certain stuff for sure.

What no " Just put the bullet in the right spot and the animal will die" posts?
its totally ok to shoot a .243 at a moose but we need High end ammo for the 270Win? I don't get it.

I have been using 140 accubonds to take a few elk with my 270 win. I have had very good results, a pass thru on a bull elk and recovered one accubond in the offside hide on one another bull elk. Another pass thru on a mule deer. All have died quickly only steps from being hit. I wouldn't hesitate to use them on a moose, I found the elk I have shot with all the calibers I have used over the years seem to be tougher than moose that I have shot.

You can’t hunt moose with a 270 Winchester, Jack O’Connor said it was a sheep cartridge !
