Well so far I've managed to get out for a week and a weekend up to the lake in 8-5.

The week was nice (Sept 10 - 16), had great weather (too warm) saw lots of chicken (limited out for the first time 8)) and got to run the dog on real game (which he was great!).

The last 4 days of my week I chased around a small group of deer consisting of 3 bucks ( 1 large 4x4+ , 1 small 4x4 and 1 HUGE 2x2 [ this thing had high and wide, but only 2 points.. ]) and a few does. Never had a good shot present itself on either of the two shooter bucks though - it was either too far or dark when I came across them...

Also saw one of the largest moose I've seen in along time (hope to have a picture once Dad develops his film) come right through camp -drove both dogs nuts!!

Went back up this past weekend - didn't see as many chickens, and ran into another small bachlor herd of bucks ( 3 2x2 and a spike) and another moose (cow this time).

The thing which really pissed me off, was in the field I had been hunting the week before I found the body of the 2x2 which someone had shot and left. I'm guessing whomever did it also took the big bucks, because I still saw the does in the mornings but they did not have their escorts. I can't say how $%^& ticked off I was when I went up to the ravens and saw the body there ( I was expecting a gut pile, thinking someone got lucky)...
To top the weekend off, one of the dogs (my uncles) put a stick into their groin and had to be brought out to Merrit for stiches.

Can't get away this weekend, but I hope to be back up first weekend in October for 'open buck' (it'll be a zoo I'm sure).

Over all so far so good - I've seen more moose and elk in the area this last month than I have in the last few years!

Now I can't wait till the 13th when I head out to meet Dad in PG (great beaver lake) to chase moose.
