Now that the recreational fishery has been virtualy shut down to give the ‘starving resident orcas’ Chinook salmon to eat,the ‘starving orcas’ have moved on,nowhere to be seen( presumably finding dinner elsewhere, possibly joining the northern residents which are doing very well with record numbers something the ‘save the whale’ people fail to mention) The transients that feed on seals ,purposes and sea lions have moved in finding plenty to eat...kind of ironical, isn’t it?

Screw the resident orcas if they're too stupid to learn to eat seals. Adapt of gtfo.

No,the residents aren’t stupid, they just moved to where Chinook are plentiful, and the transients moved in to feed on the seals which are equally plentiful....meanwhile the DFO shut down the recreational fishery to save the whales who it appears didn’t need saving at all...fluctuating numbers of salmon have been going on for millennia and the resident whales didn’t become extinct ...

Super ironic HA.
I’m guessing there’s more to the story than trying to save the resident orcas. Appeasing the natives and the U.S. perhaps.
Luckily there are yankee fish all over the surfline wcvi.
Why the orcas are not sticking around for the plentiful chinook everyone is leaving alone sure looks good on em HA

Any orca that has peanut head it's so malnourished when there are plenty of seals is indeed stupid in my book.

Hopefully they piss off and go somewhere else. It will break my heart if the local eco-tourism industry struggles as a result.

Just maybe .....maybe they have had enough of tge Whale Watching Harrasment Boats chasing them day in and day out. Finally said Were outa here.
The Salmon including Chinook fishing in the Lower Georgia Straight has been fantastic for the last 4 years.....at times incredible. Yet the Sporty who has the least impact on these runs is shut down . yet the FNs continue to fish the sensitive runs of the Fraser.

Way to go DFO.....proving more your NOT managing......your mismanagement is not building more fish. Quite the opposite. Your catering to the special group is not growing more fish. Your Wild Salmon Policy is Not growing more fish. Pathetic.

Thankyou to Washington, Oregon, Calif, Alaska......if it were not for their contribution to growing more Salmon.....our coastlines would be almost void of Chinook.

Pathetic DFO......

True that.
The whales are only one part of the story, and somewhat small in the overall picture actually.
That said, if you happen to be effected by one of the related closures, it ain't that small!

The underlying reason for the massive & draconian closures this year was and is directly due to DFO catering to the BLACKMAIL demands of Fraser FN's. Period. They informed DFO that they would fish the Fraser Chinook Stock of Concern into extinction if DFO did not shut everyone else down (regardless of their impact or lack thereof on those same stocks). DFO, as directed by the PMO Office, blinked. In the name of "reconciliation" and "conservation" (both lies btw) they calved into the demands, and shut everyone else down. At the same time they have now let over FIFTY FN net openings on the Fraser's most endangered runs of Chinook.
In other words a complete shell game, and a complete travesty.

Adding insult to injury, DFO has now created a new bureaucracy housed within their ministry titled the Reconciliation & Planning Department - complete with a huge budget, staff, and their very own Regional Director General. Not hard to understand where that one is going...

As for the whales - they are well within the population range they always have been. In fact, historically they have been at lower numbers several times. There is no emergency, but saying they are certainly created the alarm, sensationalism and enviro-nutbar support required to bring in restrictions based upon the fallacy.

Currently their lack of presence in the gulf and adjacent areas has the psuedo-scientist greenies on red alert. They are screaming this is even more indication of just how poorly they, and the stocks of Chinook they rely on are.
It's bullshit of course. The Gulf and straights are more loaded with springs than they have been for many many years.
But... the Chinook runs to California are booming even more.
Part of the cycle of these orcas is that they travel the length of the western seaboard in search of their preferred prey (Chinook) in abundant numbers. It would appear they landed right on a Bonanza on both accounts with those California runs. So why in hell would they wander off? They didn't, and they won't until the numbers of the prey declines.

Not rocket science really.
And rather easy to determine the government is playing as many sides against each other as they possibly can in order to slip in their own Agenda. That Agenda is also becoming clearer each passing day - the re-allocation of the fisheries resource from commercial and recreational fishers over to FN interests.

There is a hell of a lot more information in this regard in the now lengthy thread I created here for getting the word out:

http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/showthread.php?151719-Draconian-Fisheries-Closures

Be warned, it is lengthy, and pretty much guaranteed to make your blood boil!

All of this happened under the LIEberal government's direction, and a British Columbia Fisheries Minister actioning their Agenda.
I strongly suggest we all keep this in mind in the upcoming October election - especially those in Wilkinson's, or any other liberally held riding.

No. His not. He is a Lefty through & through, with obviously ZERO understanding of how these things work.

I would appreciate it if you couple please refrain from directly quoting this fool.
It interrupts the IGNORE function he currently resides in.

Many Thanks,

Right, the closure is all a left wing conspiracy. The whales have been malnourished for over 10 years. It's as simple as that.

Victoria is in the process of cutting off their supply of Oh-Henry bars and they've gone elsewhere.
