Well I am starting to think this sheep hunting thing is just long painful hikes through the mountains with a conscious decision to add weight to the pack with useless things like a gun. After 3 trips over the past 3 years, I am still in search for my first Stone Sheep Ram. I finally got the video put together from last years hunt. We saw 4 - 7 year olds and 1 (unconfirmed) legal ram that a storm screwed up. We were packed in by Double A Packers and couldn't say enough good things about their service or the country and animals we saw, truly another trip of a lifetime. We spent 13 days in the mountains bringing my total to 27 days in the mountains over the past 3 years.

With the amount of rams we saw on this hunt and the awesome time we had, we are all set to head back to the exact same place this August hopefully with slightly different results.....the countdown has started.

Thanks for taking us along on your adventure. Sheep hunting is the drug; not sheep killing. Remember that. You are lucky, the first one you kill will have been hard. I wish I had the same first story. Good luck brother. Lord willing.

Thanks for posting, looks like a great time and lots of kilometers put on. Good that you are going to the same place, you will be a lot more efficient covering terrain and knowing camp spots, water holes and sheep hang outs and trails. The challenge of the hunt and adventure in sheep country is what makes it so alluring but I hope your moment of when it all comes together happens on year 4!

Keep at it Codybart. It took me 50 days + to get a ram. The harder the challenge the greater the reward.

Thanks for sharing your hunt with the rest of us. I was fortunate to get my first ram on my first attempt last year. 90 days from now, I'll be back into the same area and see if I can treat myself to a special 60th birthday by going two for two. Good luck to you this year!

Great video Cody; thanks for sharing. They say the 3rd times the charm, so year 4 you should be hitting a cranker. Good luck!!!
