I think this needs revisiting as the threads I can find are older.

Gaia vs iHunter vs HuntBuddy

What's the best back country off-grid gps smartphone app for B.C. hunting?

Thanks.

I like iHunter over hunt buddy on Android because using Android version you can do a lot more options such as leh zones

I use Ihunter here in Alberta. Best app on my phone.

I'll be getting the BC version when I move.

I know the creator of the app. He is a solid guy who loves hunting an the outdoors. I'll happily pay him money for the app!

On a side note: if any BC residents have comments or things they would like to see from the app. Let me know and I can pass it along. He is always looking for ways to grow and improve

Leh zones are good when scouting for your choice of draws.

Our Fire Department is testing the Gaia app for search and rescue, I use a Garmin with the chip and it works for me.

I use Ihunter with the crown land annual purchase. Also use Fatmap, as it has really good details (and is free). I have hunt buddy but only use it to access regs quickly, as iHunter does so much more.

I just tarted using Gaia on iPhone and love it.

Use with backcountry map books. Expensive but works awesome.

My my apple watch shows my stats, a small map for quick looks and allows me to add waypoints and pause the track on my wrist.

User friendly and detailed.

currently looking to get an inreach. My tune may change.

I use Hunt Buddy and GAIA basic from a long time ago. Also Earthmate only to pair my phone and InReach. All have their pluses and the 3 apps cover my needs.

I've been using Earthmate more and more lately. It comes with my inReach mini and since I use the phone to text off of it only makes sense.

The phone is WAY faster than the Garmin GPS that isnt touch screen and takes forever to find stuff on the small screen.

I really like earthmate so far. Very good topo maps and very clear definition of park boundaries that my garmin gos with topo maps on it does not have.

I use a combo of Earthmate and HuntBuddy and have been very happy.

I also have a very good sense of direction and never get lost because I solely road hunt from my truck in full camo while smoking cigars to cloak my "scent".

Can’t beat IHunter with the private overlays IMHO
