Sask/Manitoba.

BC is too full of virtue signaling liberals.
Hopefully all that GMO soy gives them cancer.

Hmm your post history is mostly asking where animals are. How much time have you actually spent out scouting and hunting?

I would avoid areas next to or close to a reservation. Unfortunately that will be all of bc soon.

Depends on what you want to hunt on your property.

Something to think about when looking at property is wildlife migration. My family picked up some recreational property in the Princeton area. I was all excited about hunting the deer all over the property, but soon discovered that as of late September all the deer migrated out of the area to their winter ranges. Still a great place to camp and quad, but the deer situation was disappointing. Just because the wildlife are there while you are looking at it doesn't mean that they will be there come hunting season.

depends how much money you have and what you want to hunt..
big investment for say 1 mule deer a year.

I've thought about this long and hard and determined that I am way too migratory a hunter to have a single place I want to hunt all the time. Things change so much now too, with limited seasons. Plus if you have a dwelling on it, you have to worry about that. A friend has a cabin up the Deadman River valley. He goes up once a year and spends most of the time fixing the place up.

I know years ago, it made sense to buy a place up in Lake Country when there was GOS for moose in region 5, but now with most of the province on moose LEH, that doesn't make sense. For me anyway, fishing leaves me cold.

walks with deer and gbrown001 above also make good points.

Hard to suggest anything based on the very limited info provided.
Does he want bare acreage just to hunt on, a small lot in the middle of a decent area for hunting, intend on living there, putting up a cabin, any services such as power, water, internet needed?
Accessible year 'round?
How much do you want to spend?
Will you commute there - if so how far do you want to drive and how often will you do it?

Acreage also you need to be really handy with all tools power saws tractor dozer excavator these tools are expensive.. maintenance on a a rural property is daily.. forest fires and floods are reality and you never have a boring day.

My friends came up this weekend to bear hunt while i worked.

If you want some help let me know. I am a realtor with RE/MAX and service North Okanagan/Shuswap. I have helped out quite a few guys on here and come with great references ;) I specialize in acreages and have sold quite a few hunting properties.

Manitoba is where it is at. Own 160 acres and have massive deer, with jammy stands set up. Pretty good way to do it with minimal investment. Awesome for non residents as well. 150 bucks at canadian tire and you are good to go.

Get a farmer to sew it down and the goverment gives you a check that pays the taxes while bringing in more deer.

5 weeks of archery so you dont have to deal with road hunters as well.

The trouble with buying hunting property in BC is even though there may be a long season in the area presently, there is a good chance the season will be very restricted in length at any time or closed. That is unless you're FN, then you're still good to go!!!!

Absolutely shameful governance by our Political Masters!!!

Spent some time out there but not enough. I have focused in 3-18. Seen lots of does and bucks at the wrong time. Outside of that not to much time in other parts of B.C. my point to the question is where is a good area to start learning. I just want to pick a new area that has decent potential. I’ll take the time to scout and figure it out. From the reading and asking I’ve done it sounds like past Prince George is where to start

Better to invest in a camper or trailer.

Then you can go where ever for long periods of time.

What happens when hunting dries up around your property. Then your just stuck with a crappy chunk of land.

If you're interested in the Goodlow area (Close to Fort St John) let me know as I have a section of land that I am contemplating selling to move back to Alberta. It has the Alaces river running a full mile through the property, half timber / half farmland, lots of quadding opportunities and is located close to a pile of crown land on the BC / AB border.

Hunting in Logan lake area would be great. The deer come to you. I can sell you this house for a measly 1.8 million. Works out to be about a grand per square foot. You would almost think they are just waiting to end up on your dinner menu. https://scontent.fyvr3-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/38292842_10156521245548529_1635503213941620736_n.j pg?_nc_cat=101&_nc_ht=scontent.fyvr3-1.fna&oh=c9d0595e4e5f10e588d6ce619674e8a7&oe=5D317835
