Should be pretty good, but not until mid May usually.

Should have to kill a black bear before a moose elk or deer tag is issued!! LOTS of black bears up there! Put a nice fat fall bear in the freezer last sept from up there! Moosin

If it was me, around Dawson creek, I'd check out any fields with grain crops on them. Then I'd look for crown land around those fields, or visit and asj permission to hunt those fields. Crown land south towards tumbler, or north of Dawson, but anything green. First and last light, and secluded edges, or secluded corners where there is less chance of a disturbance for the feeding bruins! Oil leases, and seismic lines are pretty dam good spots too, especially if there are good patches of dandelions and clover! You will see all kinds of critters while your out there too, so GPS or take a map with you and remember where you have seen these other critters, they MAY, or MAY NOT be there in the fall?!:) Moosin

First thing in the spring one can get lucky before greenup checking the edges of grain fields as these will be most likely be the last place the bears got a meal before hibernating. It’s more of a fluke than anything.
Best bet is when mosquitoes are out and frogs are croaking. Still hunt the pipeline right of ways as they are generally the first greenup. Usually second week of May but I have seen as early as April 30 like in 2016.
Before frogs and mosquitoes are out it’s usually just an excuse to get out and spend money on fuel.

Not very much snow up there anymore!
