moose in the cariboo

hey guys never been hunting before well at least not big game but my dad convinced me to put in for a moose near williams lake and we actually drew a bull moose for the 15 to 31 of oct.Just wondering if there are any words of wisdom that you might want to share.the other thing is I am shooting a 270 bolt and my dad has a 308 is that going to do it seems like everybodys packing a 300 win mag ?

You'll be fine with 270 & 308.

Nailed many a moose with a 270. Remember, as with any caliber, your only as good as the shot you take. Make it good and your coming home with meat.

Both guns are good moose killers. Go up for at least one weekend prior to your hunt to scout around. Come up with a few good areas to hunt and put together a few strategies. It can be tough to do while hunting with limmited time.

.270 is lots...moose are big animals and take 1 minute and 29 seconds to fill up with blood and expire if shot in the lungs...
Williams lake area hs plenty of moose..you are coming here at6 a perfect time..just find some lake or elevation and do some calling..

Heck even the sliver slingers are finding them OOPS sorry Jesse...lol

use a quality bullet in either gun and they'll do just fine, 300 mags are for atv hunters

Rut here in the Cariboo starts around the 26th of Sept(last week) and first 2 weeks of Oct they are at the height of rut..HOWEVER they are ALREADY coming in to a call...just not agressivly yet..
Where are you headed ?? I may have some suggestions for moose..
