Got a couple messages from this individual as well about a rifle I was selling asking for pics...they used two different email addresses to send the pics to so I ignored the request. You nees to be carful these days as so many people are trolling these sites to rip people off. I’m sure he will find his way back onto the forum under a differnent user name. Be careful, ask lots of questions and if it seems to good to be true it usually is!

The rcmp have been 100% useless, I give them phone numbers and emails that he’s using, all I get is a “nothing we can do”. I worried about the day he showed up on here, for a place that I spend a lot of time, it’s outright embarrassing, to have my photos slandered as a scammer.

Im sorry to anyone who had dealings with this guy, I know of a handful of others throughout Canada that he has scammed, some with my stolen ID, and some with another fellows stolen ID from van island.

Im at my end with this guy, but I wonder, if I was to have a ad, like a current ad where he is trying to sell a firearm, if I had that to take to the rcmp, perhaps they would try a little harder? What I’m getting at here, is if he ever shows up again, I’d love to get notified ASAP so I could hand it over to the rcmp.

Iv been tempted to take it to CBC or something, it’s identity theft and fraud, not to mention (even tho its a scam), selling firearms without a valid pal. You’d think the rcmp would have more interest in this guy. Iv lost count of how many times Iv been contacted because my ID shows up somewhere.

Well i did give him my email. The interesting thing will be to see what or if he comes up with any pictures. If he does chances are it will be of a gun i already own or already know about!

What you're not understanding is that this is the first step in his MO. He builds trust and hopes to see you let your guard down and either send him information he can use like a PAL or RPAL, he'll try get you to send funds or the rifle in a swap (send me yours and then I send you mine). If you don't believe it, try do a deal with him and post your results back.

We're just looking out for each other here - if you want to trust and take a risk despite the warning then go for it. I'm sure you can still find him trolling CGN or other sites but since he's been blocked from this site, we'll enjoy a bit of relief but he'll be back under a different alias. These parasites don't give up a good feeding ground so easily.

It is true that an IP addresses do not always lead directly back to the culprit.

Someone could be using the wifi at Starbucks, or perhaps they are bouncing through a hacked server in Romania.

That said, not investigating it is equivalent to not investigating a license plate associated with a robbery based on the notion that in theory the license plate could be fraudulent.

It would be easy for them to get a court order to find out who owns the IP and if it is a residential customer of a local provider, they could go knock on the door, have a chat, maybe look through their computer, etc.

The RCMP computer crime division is over in Green Timbers in Surrey. Maybe you can reach out to them directly with the IP addresses and times. I worked with a couple of their guys some years ago. Solid Constables there. They know how to do the job.

I totally agree, I was once told by the rcmp, “they have bigger fish to fry”. I often wonder if CBC would like a juicy story, they tend to love things that involve the rcmp.

Using a VPN takes care of the
entire IP Address issue and virtually everyone that
does shady things online uses those.

I agree with Warnniklz, water mark your pictures.
Makes them absolutely useless for anyone else
and takes seconds to do.

Short answer NO!! Long form! They can change their IP with two clicks of the mouse, so tracking them is near impossible at our level.


How do you get a new IP address?

Click Start->Run, type cmd and press Enter. Type ipconfig /release at the prompt window, press Enter, it will release the current IP configuration. Type ipconfig /renew at the prompt window, press Enter, wait for a while, the DHCP server will assign a new IP address for your computer.

I find it hard to believe they cannot track EMTs.....the banks should have that info on files.
I work for a credit union and yes EMT’s are traceable to a certain extent, the company at the very least can find out which institution the money was deposited at however it is a MASSIVE breach of privacy for them to give that info to you.

I found once that I had a charge on my credit card to something I hadn't purchased on Amazon.
I called, and Visa looked into it while on the phone.
Here's the kicker!!!

I could either stop payment and have charges taken off "if" I cancelled my card.
If I however wanted to start an "investigation", it meant I would have to pay the charge, wait til investigation happens,
which would take 6 months (they said that), and who knows how many other charges would happen in the meantime!

The worst part, they could "see who was using my card"!!! (Amazon Account)
Yet would not disclose it to me!!???

WTF???, it was my card # and my name they were using on another account.
Canceled the card, but this meant whoever was "illegally" using my card....

reported to police , had to send copy of for sale for them to see and they asked if i could give them a name .. wtf..
never did get it back . so much for the police they have speeders to catch not criminals . we have a legal system not a justice system .

Pretty easy to lose faith when the police hired to protect and enforce laws don't see fit to investigate stolen property, fraud and illegal firearm acquisitions. While the police may believe these are petty crimes, try explain that Joe Scmuck that works his ass off to make a living only to lose his property to some lame, thieving prick and the only people that can help him chose not to. There are no other legal and practical ways to deal with this crap. So bloody wrong it's sickening.
