Hey friends!

I'm wondering if anyone has any information they'd be open to sharing regarding spring turkey. I'm an Aussie and have never even seen one of these buggers in the wild.

Im thinking of heading away for a long weekend (we live in Vancouver), and I guess I'll be heading east!?

Im absolutely not asking for specifics, but any info on what sort of terrain, techniques or general turkey killing tips would be really really appreciated!!

Cheers and happy hunting!!

Costco has a bunch of big birds. They dont spook easily and are pretty easy to prepare for the table.

Haha

But seriously where do we hunt turkeys

I like Chris idea..:

just think about how much turkey a guy could buy with that gas money it would take to go shoot a little birdy

There's some turkeys roaming on texada and when we were there a couple years ago the CO that we ran into said we could shoot them. He said they were invasive. Prob have better luck in the kootenays though. You'd spend as much in ferry fees getting to texada as you would driving to the kootenays.

no problem seeing them in the East Kootenays, seeing them were you can hunt is a bit more difficult, if
you want to head that far can tell you a few spots that may hold some.

About 10 years ago I seen a flock of turkeys in 3-32 and even took a picture but only have a hard copy pic. Hunted there lots in the past and only seen them once

To sjbd243 I have seen turkey in 8-14 along the kettle river but mostly private land. I have not targeted them

This is so true.
Land owners love the birds and are not very willing to let hunters go after them.

Thanks all for the awesome information!!

So have most of your sightings been on FSR's, or down in valleys? Any tips on what kind of ground to look for?

Cheers guys!!!

South face slopes, Power lines, and Water nearby

Some folks like to follow the snow line as it moves up the mountains.
