I have shot alot of nice muledeer but I am in the market for a very nice whitetail buck.I have hunted the Canal Flats area in the past with good success but some guys are trying to sway me over to the Mcbride area in October, so how about a little advice for a 10 day trip combination muledeer and whitetail hunt ,any suggestions would be appreciated. And I know the Dana gang knows the Mcbride Valemont area better than I know my wife so about throwing me a bone.

Why not head to the okanagan/kootenays if you are hunting October?

BHF; the 3 days we were in canal flats blew my mind, the buck to doe ratio was 50/50 from what I saw. Unreal. It must be wicked in the rut. A junior there shot a nice 4x4 whitetail to have it taken by a bear before it died lol so he shot the 3x3 it was with. he was too scared to try and get it from the bear.

BHF,
Have you seen the whitetails we've killed lately? All meat bucks. Not in the 'very nice' trophy catogory by any means. I think I'd be looking at the Koots if I was looking for a big whitey. Biggest whitetail I ever saw was back when I was a teen hunting elk in the late season in the Koots. That thing still haunts my dreams. Never saw a whitey like it until I saw the Hanson buck featured in Big Buck Magazine several years later.

MONSTER mulies in mcbride walker creek area........:-P.

this year in the koots, seen the biggest whitetail ive ever seen. on private land of course.. tries to get a pic, but did not turn out. he had brow tines that were about 10 to 12 inches long and both split and perfectly even. SOOOO much mass. was a perfect 5x5 not including the split brows. he had no neck. just massive. it will be in my dreams for a long time....... horn porn......... lol
