I couldnt hold the buck fever back and headed up again after a couple days hunting earlier in the week. Luck would have it and I dropped this 9x7 mulie buck. I was hiking the alpine with BrowingBar in an area of ours that usually doesnt have much deer. There was only a few big tracks so I was not too excited. I peered over a ridge and to my surprise was this guy bedded about 50 yrds below me. I already saw his rack and counted the first 4 and didnt bother to count the rest. I put the crosshairs on his neck and squeezed the trigger. He leaped to his feet and ran about 20 yrds before falling. As I got closer, I saw that he had even more points than I had thought. He was field dressed at 350 pds. His hooves were about an inches longer than my 7mm Rem. Mag shell. His neck was enormous and I was unable to put my arms around it. Here is some pics of this buck. Some of the photos on my camera didnt show up well but I will post the other pics from another camera of ours later on.

Congrats indeed on a very fine animal! And I would concur with R#1 - the curvature of rack looks whitey.

That is a great looking non-typical. So did you really pack that whole big bugger out in one piece? Spill the details!

Thanks to my brothers and my father, we put him on a tarp and the five of us dragged him down downhill for about 1km towards the quad. It took us about 3 hrs and plenty of energy. The alpine was not very thick and mostly vegetation so the buck slid quite well. It was also very steep which helped us out a lot. I tried to use the winch on my quad to lift him to hang but the quad went up instead. I then hooked him on the truck and snapped our first cable in the process. The second shot we got him up. He is going in to be mounted at Three Rivers Taxidermy.

Hm, a brute of a Non Typical Mulie. Well done. Sounds like your hunting technique is to get above the deer and hunt down on them. You said you peered over a ridge and saw him bedded. Without giving away your area, it would be good to hear how you chose to hunt this place.

Here is two pictures of his rack. When I hunt, I just freestyle it, no technique, I just change it accordingly with weather and environment. As for location, I'll wait til Jelvis comes back and I'll give him a hint and he can tell you guys.
