Good looking youngster, O! Trying to dig up some pics I have of him from the year before. Didn't seem like he put on a ton of growth.

The sad part of "townies" or neighborhood bucks is that some lowlife inevitably tries to poach it if it is a big buck.

This buck I took numerous pics and videos over the course of that summer.
Ironically this location is within several hundred meters of the initial post.

If you look slightly to the left of him you can see the antlers of another large buck.

They also seem to see a tragic end from a collision with a vehicle as was the case with 3 of the bucks I posted.

The disgusting part was he did get poached........or more accurately, put down by a CO as he was running around with a Xbow bolt stuck in his guts for a week. It's mostly small orchard and vineyards with spotty residential and a school on my street.

That does not detour from guys trying to poach these big bucks once discovered.

So, here is the big buck I posted that was chewing on the willow tree.
235" as I know that question will come up.

Yes its sad so many of them get poached, we try and take pictures of them as well to have record of them.
Its always funny when you talk to the guys that shoot them and were they say they got them.

Thanks 358 for tossing this pic up.
Sadly, this buck was poached as well.
The ironic and idiotic part is the ass hat that poached this old timer was so ignorant he left photos at the local hunt shop to show off his trophy buck. .....THAT HE POACHED and made up a bullshit story of where he killed it. Fakin pathetic.

Like LBM said, the stories these guys make up that have poached bucks is truly sad.

So these guys that you claim poached the aforementioned bucks, where there any charges and convictions?

Ourea

So these guys that you claim poached the aforementioned bucks, where there any charges and convictions?

Not claims Jag, they were simply poached/illegally killed.
The big nontyp did not result in any charges although there was one individual that was in the crosshairs but could not be proven.

The old timer buck did result in charges.....the outcome I did not follow up on.

Point being these bucks need to be respected, admired, appreciated, not poached.
What pisses me off to no end is someone from the hunting community always takes a run at the neighborhood bucks.
Too many within our coveted sport are far from ambassadors........ continually embarrass us as a whole.

A crew makes the odd visit to my yard/garden as well. Destructive btards & I curse them. They have a habit of targeting vegetation I hold rather dear. Whaddya gonna do. Tempting but not this cowboy. Taller fences on the to do list this year. Couple years ago there was an article in the local paper about some yahoos bow hunting out of the back of their pickup truck in the Bella Vista area near a hobby farm. What goes on in the heads of those folks?

That nice native ponderosa or lodgepole pine on the right in photo has been messed up by them several times. Hope it survives the latest rub session, they almost ringed it & broke some limbs.

Do these bucks live longer than the average of 7-10 yrs?

A friend of mine in rural central interior had his garden decimated frequently by deer. He can shoot but they most often arrived in the middle of the night. He found some motion sensitive sprinklers and set them up. As soon as a deer activated the sprinkler, the blast of water would discourage the deer and his problem was solved.
Anyhow, Penticton along with other towns and cities are plagued with urban deer. The continued influx of deer seeking cover will eventually bring in cougars. Which might not be as discretionary about what they attack, like a pet or perhaps a child. Knowing the lay of the land in the Penticton area I can see that this can be a high probability.

That first buck you posted is still around. Saw him on Wednesday. Also another 4 with him of similar size.
A heavy wide (28"ish) got smacked near little engine winery in mid November. Sad end.

Ran a few errands today and drove the hood to see if I could maybe get a better pic of a buck or 2.
Only found the one usual suspect a few blocks away.
I even brought a camera today, I'm usually just a cell ph click guy.

This is not so on the island. The urban deer are bringing the cats.
The urban cougar is getting common.

Good size buck breaks into hair salon & escapes with a hair straightener.
