I haven't posted a picture since photo bucket ended. Can someone tell me if and how it can be done from a smart phone. Hbc is lacking in the photo department as of late and i want to help.

Imgur is working good. You can get an App, then upload and post onto HBC using the ********************.jpg format

The only thing with photobucket was that they asked that you "pay for" it now, from what I remember, and shortly after that is when some members photo posts no longer showed up to see for some members like me, just the X in it's place.
Imgur is great as long as you know which link to the right to select so as to allow access and copy paste link.
As for using it thru your phone, no idea of the difference there.
I always select the link for "forums" on the right (BBCode) link.

Do you need to set up an imgur account now?

I used to be able to make it work, but now it keeps asking to make one

No, that I recall.
I am sure I had to, username and password, but still free.
Somehow photobucket went to a "user fee" and that's when photo's started to not show up in peoples posts from
the past, even though they did show before, they don't now for people like me who "wont pay" to use it.

Ive been using imjur. And it's pretty slick. Get the app for our phone and then setup an acct. Take a pic and upload it with your phone. Make the picture private. And then I usually use the web browser on my phone or laptop and log into my account and then use the BBC link to share on a forum. I haven't figured out how to share the proper link straight from the app yet.

So what the hell ?? Is this linked to one picture? Or all of them?

Go to Postimage.org Start an account. Up load your photos to your account. Click on the photo that you want to post and copy the image. Go to where you want to post the picture and paste to the thread. Make sure that you are posting in the "Advanced" window of the thread.

Easy as eating pie. Of course it would not hurt to resize the picture.

Wos

If using Postimage, which it looks like you are, once you down load the image you want from your source, click on the share button. You will get some choices, the one you want is Hotlinks for Forums. Click on the little symbol for to the right and you will get copied show up briefly. Now go to your post and right click where you want to put the pictures and hit paste.....you will get just the link in your post, but the picture will show up when you either hit post quick reply or Go Advance. I don't resize and never have had to, just download, share, copy and paste.

I like PI better than Imgur because no one can make comments etc. and I have heard that Imgur like to censor photos.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

Cheers

wos - I agree, posting pictures on this site sucks. I have posted some, and then when next I wanted to do it again some months later, had to learn all over again, and posted some more - it has never been intuitive. Then, the picture site that they recommend using in the user instructions went out of business, or started charging too much. And there is no update to the instructions. This site really does suck - It is not user friendly! The whole site sucks, you can't upvote those you agree with, you can't reply to them without copying their whole text, and that may be days later so no-one gets the reply. I wouldn't even come here except this is the only site devoted to BC hunting. If someone else started something on a more user-friendly site, i would be all over that! I am sure other users agree with me, how can they not? Maybe we should start something on a Reddit Sub-thread, or something? I love the discussions, but the format has to go!

I don't pretend to be an internet or computer expert because im definitely not. but i do subscribe to another forum and posting pictures is a simple copy paste ordeal. Its to much work for me to figure out and post the photos i wanted to share. Its nothing but a bunch if bucks i got on my camaras this year that i thought everyone would enjoy. I will post them on my Instagram if anyone wants to see them.

I suggest that you resize your photos to 640X480 which will give a good picture for posting on here.
How to resize?
You are given two options on the upload page. The first is "Do not resize my pictures", the other is "No expiration".
Resizing: If you select this before uploading the pictures, it will give you several size options. The best as I said for posting here is the 640X480. Select that for the pictures you wish to upload. Experiment with the other size options.
Expiration: Select this an it gives you options for how long the pictures will remain resident before getting the punt. Select "no expiration" and they stay forever or at least until you punt them.
And lastly again, you have to right click on the picture in your album that you want to post which reopens it singularly (by itself) and then right click again on select "copy this image", go to the site you want to show it and paste.
I think this is the way, well pretty sure but there is always a codicil with this stuff, it may...........or it may not.

This is exactly what I was ranting about. Of course there is a way to post pics, even if it has changed, and no-one has updated the appropriate instructions so that a new-comer can figure it out. It is just that it is so un-intuitive. This site needs to make some serious changes, and come into the year 2018, to be usable. You should be able to be writing a post, then insert a picture with no problem whatsoever. You should be able to reply to another's post, and the reply will appear below the original post. And all sorts of other changes needed, I am sure other users will have a bunch. of other requests.

I would post pictures and my hunting tales here but I refuse to go through the convoluted procedure of doing so. Why should I have to use another site to post pictures? No other forum I am member of has such a complicated procedure to simply upload pictures. I love reading the stories and seeing the pictures and wouldl do so as well if I could do so directly without going through imgur or photobucket or whichever is currently being used.

A couple of settings on imgur

Post / Image Privacy

Although nothing you post to Imgur is completely hidden from public view or entirely private, with that understanding you can set the privacy level of posts.

Hidden: Posts will be hidden by default. They are not searchable within Imgur, and will not appear in Imgur’s public gallery or public profile, but each one will still be accessible by going to the post’s URL. They cannot receive comments or earn points.
Public: Posts will be publicly viewable and shared with the community. Public posts shared with the community will allow comments, sharing, and voting, and appear in a user’s profile.

“Favorite Folders” Privacy

You can add favorited posts to folders that you create. Individual public posts that you favorite are always visible from the “All Favorites” page in your user profile and cannot be hidden, even those within folders. Favorited hidden posts will not appear publicly in your favorites. These settings for favorites cannot be changed, but the visibility of folders can be toggled to public or private.

Public: Folders are visible to the public community on your public profile.
Private: Private folders are kept hidden from your public profile.

I think a lot of people on this site feel the same.
It would seem it is difficult, as these threads pop up here & there.
I know I'd post more pics if were easier.
