Not sure if it's been discussed or not... but if you win a doe draw in say region 8... and you shoot a buck in that region..Does that cancel your leh doe with the new bag limits?

Thanks

No. Only 1 mule deer buck for region 3,4,5,6,7,8. Read page 17 of the regs. It seems pretty clear to me. Pm me if you want to discuss more or call the COs office.

Can you cite any part of the regulations book that supports your answer?

Take a look at page 17 in regs...a total of only one mule deer can be shot in region 8 whether a buck or a doe...if you shot a buck in region 8 you have reached your limit of mule deer in region 8...if you had shot a doe then you could not shoot a buck in region 8 because only one mule deer is permitted to be shot in region 8

Region 8 has been like that for years. Only one mule deer. Either a buck or an LEH doe, but not both. One only.

Page 17: white box: look at region 8: look at total under mule deer column: pretty clear it says 1

Thanks that's what I figured. Been having several conflicting convos with ppl I know that say yes u can still shoot your doe.... but I read it as ... if u shoot ur 1 mule deer in regions 3-8 regardless of gender ... that your done. If u wana get another mule deer has to be region 2 after that.

If u shoot a buck in region 8 u cant shoot a leh doe in region 8. You can shoot a buck in region 3 and then shoot your region 8 leh. Remember you cant go over seasonal, regional or provincial bag limits.

So if u shot your buck in region 3 any bick season u just reached your seasonal and regional bag limit for mule deer but u havent hit your provincial bag limit on mule deer. So you are free to shoot an l e h antlerless doe in another region as long as it's not in Region 3

First you need to learn how to shoot or pick better shot placement lol

His doe leh is still no good since he took a buck in 8 and he can’t shoot a buck in 3 to start with since its only 1 mule deer buck limit (unless you hunt region 2) so basically he is done hunting MD this year.

So... your sayin... if I shot a region 3 buck in oct during any buck season... that I would still be legal to shoot leh doe draw in region 8? My understanding is that region 3 - 8 is 1 mule deer regardless of gender from anywhere in regions 3-8 would use up your total mule deer for mulies outside region 2. ...... so confusing. Wish they would made it more clear on the leh synopsis... it's almost Latin. Safe than sorry to me is still ... if I shot a buck anywhere regions 3-8 it I would not be allowed to take leh doe. And I would still be allowed a region 1-2 buck.

Yes u can read the regs pretty black and white. It says you're only allowed to shoot a mule deer buck in all those regions combined it doesn't say mule deer it says mule deer buck

The way they put out the new regulations it's pretty black and white in the deer bag limits section. You can't go over seasonal bag limits you can't go over Regional bag limits you can't go over provincial bag limits the table is black and white no gray area

You cant go over regional and provincial limits...if you had filled your region 8 doe LEH you could still go shoot one mule deer buck in differnt region (3,4,5,6,7) just not 8...or you could shoot 2 mule deer bucks in regions 1 or 2...key is to not go over regional or provincial limits...hope this helps

1 MD buck only for 3-8.4,3,7,and 8 regional md limit is 1. 5 and 6 have a 2 MD regional limit only one maybe a buck other needs to be a doe(leh). It’s in the regs clear as day to me

Why do 5 and 6 need to be different I don’t know. Really does not make sense in 6 at all with one of if not the lowest MD populations in BC

Welcome to BC where logic is not used lol

Looking a bit closer... it's clear. I could shoot a MD buck in region 3 and get a doe in region 8 with leh. But shooting a buck in region 8 eliminates the leh doe region 8. My 2nd buck has to be outside regions 3-8 after that for MD cuz 1 MD buck limit in them all combined. Thanks... :) My daughter still has a MD buck to get but anybuck is over and that sure lowers odds of meat in the freezer to get her on it. O well.. and I know of no white tails in close run from lower mainland (have 3 of those to fill but doubt it lol)

Thanks for the clarification... makes sence now.

You shot a MD buck in 8 so you cannot shoot a MD buck in 3-8 because it is 1 MD only for all those regions combined

Basically you can only hunt MD in region 2 for the rest of the year. Might as well go hunt WT

Yup.. exactly.... so.. basically I'm done. Wt are not my forte.... since they are so skittish and I havent found a worthy pocket to target them outside of random run ins while looking for MD. ... however I do wana shoot a bear

Your in Coquitlam go hunt BT even

Truth is you will never figure out WT if you don’t put in the effort to target them. They are not harder to hunt the MD just different

I love bear hunting But reality is that it’s prime time for deer and poor time of year for bear hunting

Hunt smarter not harder lol

The most bear sign I have seen was 9 bears in prince George...including cubs.... each bear had cubs that I encountered. So they were all no go. My season is likely over. Bit of meat... I'm happy.. had lots of fun. Not always about killing... 14yo son shot his first deer this season so... I'm proud. More opportunities next season. Gas is bloody expensive.. lol back to work now.
