Out on tour and found this critter. The tusks were 3 inches long.

Wow man!!! A picture of a wild hog and its tusks. Must of been one surprised hunter when he saw that. Wonder what the odds are to actually see one

Just asking but it looks like maybe a domestic hog someone butchered ?

Please post coordinates. There are a lot of people on this site that are dying to go hog hunting!

bigneily could this be a domestic animal, I am not a hog farmer. The tusks and fur coat make it something I have never seen,as for location very close to the Doig Indian reservation area

Those tusks don't look like any of the dozens of hogs we've raised.

I am not sure either ? I have never seen a wild hog . Just seems to look like it was dumped in that spot . I have seen domestic pigs with wooly coats before

My first comment I might have seemed to be a smart ass but I was moreless asking if it was maybe a domestic pig . I know if I shot a wild one the skull with those tusks would be kept by myself .

That’s is the head of a mature domesticated boar that’s gone feral.

Most likely a cross between Large White, Landrace and Duroc to get a shape and color like that.
I think boar meat is prob the most unappealing flavor of anything I have ever tried. Tasty is not a word I’d use to describe a boar.
Wild pigs or (or more correctly, domestic pigs gone feral) are great at transmitting disease to local and domestic pig production.

I hope that if that was indeed a Feral pig that the shooter of it removes them all.

My opinion is based on the tens of thousands of pigs I’ve raised :)

I tend to disagree about the flavour. I have eaten wild boar many times in Europe and have always found it delicious.

Totally agree, that's a feral domestic.

However feral Boar depending on what it's been eating can still be tasty.

Nice one! A pig can be as hairless and pink as a baby's butt, but if it's on crown land and not in control by a farmer, it's dinner!

Definitely Feral, not a true wild boar.
Have hunted wild boar in Germany, and been successful both times.
They are most definitely "tasty".
Would love to hunt them here (but they are super destructive on the landscape/habitat)

Thinking someone dumped an old boar there after it died or outlived it's usefulness. I share your opinion of the meat flavour and knowing what an old boar is worth on the market it was likely cheaper to kill and dump. Hogs raised outside will get quite a haircoat.

Not sure why whoever did this didn't find someone to dig a hole and dispose of properly but that's the way she goes I guess.

Domesticated -- Feral -- Wild Boar

Are they not all the same thing, with different appearance characteristics?

I have even tasted one I think is called a Ridgling hog (a hog that one testicle did not drop and then was slaughtered for meat ) it tasted pissy to me !

OMG - Lord of the Flies

My buddy, Chris P. Bacon, left that trim pile there.

Shot in the X ring, skinned out, that was a domestic hog that was butchered.

We had one a few months ago like that which we sold as a breeder. He ended up getting shot and butchered, and tasted as good as any other hog apparently. Had another boar I butchered for a coworker last week that tastes "so good, that a Rabbi would ask for a little bite". When it comes boars it is dependent on feed and handling after the kill as to taste on the table. (Mostly handling though.....)

Domestic butchered and dumped is my opinion this is not uncommon

But post the location and I bet there will be guys chasing the gut pile dreaming of wild pigs lmao
