Our Son lives in Princeton and works at a large industrial operation on Hwy #3 between Princeton & Keremeos. Apparantly this afternoon a couple of guys in a blue F-150 ( we laughed 'cause that's what I drive ) saw a buck at the side of the Hwy so they drove into the industrial lot, having to go up a drive way, through a gate ( open ), past a bunch of signs saying it's an industrial operation and past some huge buildings to track the buck.
Out they jump, spot the buck and fire off a shot, missing. Track the buck, take another shot. By this time a number of the staff come running over to find out WTF is going on and confront the guys. Guy claims he didn't know it was private land, in spite of the gate, fences, signs, buildings …….. claims it is Public Land and claims he knows his rights on Public Land. Staff also express dismay that the guy was shooting in an are where there were staff working, the nearest maybe 100 M away.
Guys take off, staff calls RCMP with the lic # of the truck. RCMP run the plate and it's from a Honda. :?:
So, the RCMP are looking for these fools, be interesting the litany of charges if they ever find them.
Son says the idiots were from Vancouver and were Caucasian ( just wanted to avoid the usual racial comments ;) ).
Tomorrow afternoon Son-In-Law, Grand Daughter and I will be up above Tulameen grouse hunting in my blue F-150, hope we aren't involved in a take down of mistaken identity.
Be careful out there.

Unbelievable how desperate some people are....I'm sure you'll be fine, as you shouldn't fit the description other than your truck..

Many years ago a friend from work had 2 fellows stop in front of his house in Port Coquitlam, jump out
and shoot his geese that were behind a fence in his yard. They claimed they thought they were wild.
They never considered the illegality of shooting in close proximity of building, or of shooting within the
confines of a subdivision.

Just goes to show you... guys that drive blue F-150s are nutters.

Silver is the only colour choice for a truck.

It’s provincial law, it’s illegal to hunt within 100m of a residence. You don’t even have to be shooting. If it looks like your are hunting you can be charged. Happen to a guy outside my house last year.

Allegedly the buck was a "6 pointer" and after the second shot it took off up the hills so no they didn't get it.

We had a similar thing here a few years back. 2 idiots from Cranbrook shot one of the big town mulies ,5x4, right beside the transfer station in town and were on the side of the road gutting it when the cops rolled up. They swore they were out of town limits. As it turned out they also had no licence or tags, no drivers licence and no insurance. Bad day for them.

Those kind of hunters are out there, Unfortunately they will probably raise kids with the same mentality.

Idiots like these are why hunters get a bad name with landowners and the public. It’s getting harder to get permission to hunt or cross private land to hunt every year

Sad thing is idiots are becoming more common

Ha Ha.
If it was me, I would've just told the workers that I'm their bosses Dad and fired away. ;)
Son says there is an Elk herd that regularly crosses the property and there have been openings in the area for Private Land only in the past.
Hmmm.

Silver's OK if its the minor two tone colour under black of course.
That electric blue does do funny things to the brain tho no doubt. A Honda plate on an F 150? That's just wrong :(
