Reg 3 isn't nuts as some udders lol -- No one cast off or blocked as far as I know -- Free and sleezy on the ridges for big mule bucks this year, for all hunters.
Come up to 3 and feel free to roam and hike, bring yer peddle bike, or horse, hit 3-28 for mules and ? For moose? Mu 3-?
Jel -- you have to cross the Trans Mt sooner or later Hahahaha -- no ones hostile -- the mules and moose are in good shape this year --

--- Try to remember a bull or buck no matter how big, of rack , neck or body, or how horny ( Rut ) can't jump on the back end of a doe or cow until the cow or doe let's him -- the female has to be in estrus ( Rut ) and so horny, she calls out for a buck to breed her, and when Mr. Big comes along, she don't keep walking, she stops and let's the big fella hop on.
Jel -- Doe and cow get horny also not just the bucks --

I know better then to answer this one....but.....
There is a reason why R5 is closed between the 10th and 20th of Nov.
The peak day, varies from year to year.
I often times find for my spot, which is lower in elevation, real low in fact, that the big day tends to be closer to the 20th then
the 10th.
But, higher up, it could be different again.
Hard to say the "exact day"...

Mulies are late December... so stay out of region 3 as all other regions count on remembrance day

first 3 weeks of November and you've got it covered for mulies, I've seen bucks physically breeding doe's as early Nov 3 and as late as Dec 5th,
the peak of it is anywhere from the 5-15, just depends when those doe's is hot.
Some years its a few days earlier some years a little later, 3 years ago they were actively chasing does the 18th and then nothing, it was like someone turned a switch off.

This year -- hint -- this season open now and til in Dec 2018 -- the moose are closer to the rut then mule deer --
Hint 2. Moose in 3 around Kamloops folks getting closer than the mules --
Jel -- -- heading into Fall September 23rd it starts -- on a Sunday -- some guesses are getting close on both mule deer and moose rut peak in 3.

Jel

I think I have responded to this topic in moose rut threads but here goes. This is a simplified response. The main trigger for the moose and deer rut is the hours of available light in a day . As the daylight hours decease it triggers the hormones in the species to breed . It is the only constant in nature . If the females do not become impregnated though they will breed again until they do.

#1Maybe someone could chime in as to why they breed later in the southern part of the province and earlier in the northern part ?

#2 Is this due to the way the sunshine hits the earth axis (it's tilt ) ? As we all know it stays darker longer as winter approaches the further north you go .

Not to take away from your thread Jelvis but going to post another thread on the topic relating to different deer family species and the rut .

Region 3 around Kamloops has still got what it takes and more to fulfill a mule deer hunters dreams. Never lost it in the first place.
Close to the Lower Mainland and Fraser valley by the Coq. Just have good winter tires on.
Most hunters up here that I know are road hunters and quit hunting in November, roads get slippery with ice and snow cover.
--That's when the trophy hunters for mule bucks come out! In Nov and Dec so they can track a monster track, step for step and look ahead.
The Peak?
Jello -- rut is coming soon for moose so let's figure this out?

According to my trail cams, the first faws I was seeing were around June 10th. So my guess is around November 23rd - 25th for Mulies and about a week later for Whities. Moose, I'd say Sept 27th. Am I close Jelly?

Jelvis
09-10-2018, 03:29 PM
Harvest on one of your guesses you were so close, as close a dam is to swearin,
Jello -- close is only good in horse shoes and hand granades Hahahahahahahahahah - see if anyone comes up with a close one, three days either end peak dates --

----> Photo Periodism is the term used by bio's, the amount of daylight that enters thee eye ball of thee moose and deersky's.
Same as us and how the daylight effects our feelings too. Humans have similar feelings that wild animules get.
-----> A female
-----> A Male
--------------------> The longest day of the year is the first day of summer, than each day gets shorter by four minutes or so.
--> The shortest day of thee year is the first day of winter than get's longer by four minutes or so each day.
the 4 seasons every year
Jel -- as the (pre rut comes forth starting almost now) for the moose, pre-rut they start getting their glands swelling up and producing hormones, the testicles of the bulls and bucks start to swell and drop. Producing more testosterone and the males necks begin to swell. PRE rut for moose in thee air all around Kammy already.

Jelvis
09-10-2018, 06:27 PM
The scent glands on the doe mule deer on their back legs bottom half. And on male deer, scent glands. When the pre-rut comes for moose like now, the moose look up and out, start making louder noises with their voices, grunting a bit, and moaning, getting romantic,
-- like heading out to the Bar, eh, the guy throws on Brute after shave and the chick puts on her best perfume " ok
-- the smell attracts both sexes, the buck and doe, the bull and cow. Get off on each udders aroma.
-- start to get hornier by the day til they PEAK! all the wayyy UP to the TOP, the Climax and all the way down, butt at the peak, they lose concentration.
That's why we hunt the peak for trophy bucks or bulls, and pepperoni and burger meat. They are full of nervous energy, tensed and stinky -- still good tho
So like getting louder and more vocal towards the actual coupling happens, like starting with one drink and like ahhhhhhh --> getting louder and louder!
Jel -- the Peak, at the Peak period, for moose and mule deer, the animules are so into the rut, they might not see your sorry ass, if yah know whad i'm trying to say?

browningboy

Worst time to shoot them, every time we have the meat wasn’t as good.

Jelvis

=-ll----> " That is why if you want to make pepperoni out of the meat, and ground round and mix the meat with spices and your special stuff, it''s still very healthy and can be enjoyed by all who get off on pepper roni and eating hamburgers." Plus moose and deer meat is wild, no chemicals or growth hormones by a farmer.
--+-------- Plus bones from the animule also. Some pet owners dig that. Check your BC regs on bare bones for your pet, I'm not sure of the reg's on bones and pets.
-- the Peak is when they are into the social stuff real hard, looking for each others mate to date, a one night stand, alllllll night. They ain't leavin til it's done!
----------buck could mount her once twice or maybe thrice --- then she's gone and her sister see's Studly standing there and whoa ho, she's thinkin, " There's what I was lookin for! " Big buck for my kids daddy, and she gives a nice lil chirp a meow and winks her big long eye lashes and says, " Where you bin all my life Studly?"
Jel -- The Peak, when all the mules and moose hit the " Late Night Bar " even the homely don't go home alone, " If you can compare and see whad I'm trying to say?
-------Especially after a few drinks, and a few little more and then the dance floor, a buck bull doe or cow, feels like their drunk, tipsy and on Viagra and lost control of their senses, driven by lust and greed and a non-stop need! Out of control, not noticing the hunter ( the Husband ) that sees the vulnerable trophy buck - and now in the back of the truck! Hahahaha your seeing the comparison?

Mule deer on average carry their young for between 190-203 days giving birth late May early June ......so law of averages basing the gestation period on 200 days going by june 1st as a birthing date Nov 13 would be the day the big boy plants the seed!! :)
