With the restrictive seasons on mulies and the fires roaring yet again. Who is gearing up and getting the shakes I personally can't wait for the weekend! Stoked to get out and slink through some cuts and coolies.. Just gotta make it a few more days and we're golden LOOKOUT MOUNTIANS. I'm coming.

Sept 5th for where we hunt. I'll be hiking in before first light with a buddy. Looking for 6pt elk or a decent muley buck! We wouldn't pass on a moose/whitetail/bear if given the chance... but they aren't the main targets. One week!

The daughter and I will be creeping around to our spot on a hidden bench below a ridge we found scouting this year, hopefully the recent rains will enable a little more stealth for us, last year the ground was baked to a crisp and couldn't see 20 feet out due to smoke. Tight strings all and good luck!

I'll be heading out early Friday to get the jump on the traffic and have a day of scouting my spots, then some R&R and back out at the in the early hours of Sept 1.

“When bow-hunting, you find you get closer to the woodland critters. The flora and the forest floor becomes clearer. You look at things more closely. You're moreaware. You know the limited range of the bow is only 40 yards or so. You must try to outwait that approaching deer. Careful not to make the slightest movement or sound hoping that your scent won't suddenly waft his way. That's when you'll know for sure and appreciate deeply what bow-hunting is all about.”

I'll be heading out on Friday night. My bow season is not looking good though, as the one place I was scouting became inaccessible. I'll be heading into an area that I don't know very well.

Won't be using a bow, but I will be out Sept 1st with the rifle to do some hunting. Took the whole week off work. Mulies and black bears.

I'll be out. No time for scouting or cameras this year. Last time that happened it resulted in an archery bull elk. At least the temps and fires won't be such a pain in the ass...

I'm packing tonight and headed tomorrow morning for a day and a half of scouting before opening day for bow elk. Planning to take photos along the way and will report back when I return.

I am also hoping one of the many bull elk stumble by my stand where one of my cams has been very productive! I would not hesitate if a whitey came by as well ... heading out Friday for 4 days ! Good luck everyone.

Driving through Manning Park this morning and the temp was +1c.
Since im on my way to the Koots for bow I was thinking how this may get the bulls bugling a bit............ that got me thinking even more and I realized I left all my elk calls in the closet at home!!!
Damn, I knew I forgot something.

First night report: two WT does, 21 wild turkeys and one bear.
Heard one elk bugle in the distance, couldn’t see.
On a positive note, camp has cell service!

Didn't you know, If animals pick up cell reception, they vacate the area!?
Gotta go further innawoods.

Best of luck all.

Had a busy opening day. Got busted by two groups of elk, young bulls in each. Could'nt get closer than 70yds. They were being pretty vocal. Busted by a pair of 4pt mulies with a doe. Passed on a 3pt mulie in velvet, got to 20yds. Got my limit of ruffies so food is still on the table

Went and done! Lots of hours spent in the stand and while I didn't get a bow chance, my father took a little whitetail with the bow and my son shot a nice little buck! Pretty successful, I would say!
