Well, the inlaws have some private property, surrounded by private farm land, that I have finally had some time to do some scouting and cleanup etc on. I'm stoked for this season, especially since 99% of the deer I have seen are all whiteys, now that we are only allowed one muley for the province. Here are some highlights of my 2018 trail cam pics so far... I have 2185 pics so far that I have saved/kept so this is only a small fraction and am not showing the huge plethora of dink bucks and does I have pics of... Also have no idea how many thousands I have deleted that were repeats or blurry etc... Will add more as I check cams...

Not the same buck as above, only a 4x4 and appears young so will probably give him another year or 2...

A few more regulars that I'm undecided on. The 4-point is still younger but not sure he has the potential that others are showing so far... Some of the newer pics show he is now a tight little 5x5...

Didn't get any great shots of this guys rack but I don't think he is the 6x5 or the 4x4 seen earlier, looks like s nice typical 5x5...

Yea, my only worry is missing him timing wise as he only seems to be in every week or 2. Other bucks are in a lot more regularly, even daily... May change once the natural food sources start to die off and the bait becomes more enticing...

Thanks for putting your pictures up. Nice to see, the crows seem to like that salt. Good luck on the buck you like he is a good buck. Any members identifying the cranes. Have a good day

Unless you've moved, several valleys and a river to the west I think...

If the stars align, probably won't be much of a story... Likely "Sat in blind for 300hrs, finally had him cross my path" haha. But will certainly post a follow up if I get him or even any more pics of him once he's done growing or hard horned. If lucky enough to harvest him, he would be my largest buck to date of any species and I would certainly get a shoulder mount done.

I think the crows are more interested in the oats and corn, don't seem to like the barley much though... Will likely do some "crow" control a couple weekends this month... They are harder on the bait supply than the neighbours dang cows when they break in.

Set up a blind..keep feeding them..and you will get that guy! Whitetail are more habitual than mule deer.

Yup... that's the plan... got 3 blinds and bait piles set up on the property, BUT, timing is everything... If he doesn't start coming in more often and I'm not there on his weekly or bi-weekly trip then we may never cross paths...

That would be the neighbours cattle. They find (or make?) a hole in the fence every now and then. A dozen or so managed to get stuck in our property for 2 or 3 weeks, I think in June, and polished off an entire 50lb salt block and 1/4 to half of another. Luckily I hadn't started the oats and stuff yet and the salt blocks are only $8 to $12 and usually last a whole year with just the wild things on it. Been keeping on top of the fence since and only the odd stray seems to find its way in now.

Haha you never know!

Shoulder mount for surreeee

Where do you get your 50lb salt blocks from? Heading up to the loops this weekend!

To answer the crane question, I’m pretty sure those are “sandhill cranes” otherwise known as “rib-eye of the sky”

The Horse Barn or Peavey Mart are the 2 places I usually get all my salt and feed from. Peavey Mart is generally a couple $ cheaper but can get picked over pretty quick and they don't always restock immediately, been in there a couple times and they had next to nothing left. Never known Horse Barn to run out of anything and they will bring it out to your vehicle and load it for you.

I am really starting to think above all else that these trail cam threads are starting to be my favorite, nothing more interesting than seeing what members are stalking and if they are successful on their target animals.

seems that I need to put a lot more trail cameras out as this is almost as enjoyable as hunting itself.

You're running some quality trail cameras for sure! Great pics...
I have also had problems with cattle destroying my baits and salt blocks. Have had to have a few talks with my neighbours...
Have also lost a couple of cameras to bears!
Good luck on that 5X6.
