Just picked up my 05 Lion from Niemeyers. I'm really impressed with the work. Tough to take pics that do it justice. It's 8'9" from tip of nose to tip of tail.

French bar,
I think the only whitetails I've got in there is the Euro of my 04 whitey and 2 Kelowna sheds we picked up in the 80's that I use for rattling. There are a couple caribou sheds in the pile too. But the rest is all muley.

Perry,
We got out there for first light yesterday morning. Saw a tall 3x2 first thing. Was a little far out and was looking right at us. A stalk would have been tuff so Cody passed on him. We then walked another cut and Cody declared he wasn't feeling too well. We started hiking back to the truck and he started pukin. He was hit hard by the flu. Pretty much threw up all day. So our opening day pretty much was a wash. We got home early and I took the opportunity to head down to Vernon with Jesse to pick up my lion. Cody woke up feeling better today, so we are going to head out for the evening to see what we can find. Now that Russ set the bar, Cody may pass on a lot more bucks holding out for something big. :)

What an awesome Cat !!!;-)

Now all you need is a Bobcat next to it and maybe someday a Lynx and you've got it made ;-)

Very nice lion rug Dana. I was wondering what ever became of that cat  Sorry to hear about Cody getting sick, but at least it wasn't during a fly in Yukon trip! Yup, Russ set the bar pretty high for the lil' junior trophy buck chasers ;)

Nice. I don't know very much about the cats but that looks like a big one to me. As far as they go is that a big one?

Hounddogger,
Even though I do feel bad about hitting Horshur in the head with a baseball bat when we were kids, I still won't give him a dime to mount his $hit. ;)

Macgregor,
Yes, I do believe most would call this one a big one. Begginner's luck I suppose. :)

Jetboat,
Cody's feeling quite abit better now. We went out for the evening hunt and he passed on another buck. A 2 point at 15 yards broadside. I told him it rarely gets easier than that. He said, 'Naw, he's too small.' I guess I've created a monster. Passin up on bucks at his age. Crazy I tell ya. But he says he wants one with some trash.

Nice lookin "lion". Did it actually take 2 yrs. to get it back? or did-ya have it in the frezzer for a while?

Mik,
Actually it took 2 1/2 years. Killed it in Jan of 05 and I believe I dropped it off in Feb 05. Even though I was anxious to get it back, it was well worth the wait. The quality is definately top-notch. A 2 year wait is pretty much common among the better taxidermists in the province right now.

Jetboat,
The desire for the trash is easily swayed when you show him a real good typical. Played cat and mouse with a low 160 typical first thing this morning. Saw it skylined at 150 yards, a little too far for what we practiced at, so we put the stalk on as it fed over the lip and out of our sight. When we got to where we had last seen it, it was again 150 yards furthur feeding towards the timber. Cut the distance down to 50 yards but between the trees and brush, we had no shot opportunity. Then we almost had the deal sealed on a tall mid 170 4x4 later in the morning. Stalked it to within 20 yards with the wind in our favor. Everytime we'd get set up on a stump to take a shot, the brush would be too high and we'd just see the top of his back and his antlers. It walked behind some brush and we made our move and were almost right on top of it when a little double dropper and a doe, that we couldn't see bedded in the tall fireweed, busted us and the big boy trotted into the saftey of the timber. Not a bad morning overall though. 7 bucks, 1 doe and a big sow with a cub. Being that close on that big 4 point was very exciting to say the least.
